OK, I'm with you now. I forgot that Masonry and Code of Laws have 2 prereqs. Not sure why you want to delay monarchy though- do you really think we can go that long with just gold, hinduism, and calendar as our only sources of happiness?

At any rate, I don't really have a lot to discuss. The only practical question is whether to run priests to speed up the 2nd prophet, and that can wait until we see whether we land the oracle.

With the early golden age I don't think we could justify any further revolts (to a religion or new civic) before we kick it off. We already have 2 happy in vision (accessible at calendar + iron working), 1 more from building markets, and probably we will find 1-2 more once we, you know, actually explore a bit. Meanwhile with math and currency we'll pretty much have chosen the horizontal expansion path; even being stuck with mostly size 7 cities pre-golden age would be acceptable IMO.

Yeah, I'm also not quite as sold on delaying HR that long. Perhaps a discussion to have after we know whether or not we get the Oracle though.

Edit: Crosspost with Seven. Size seven cities that require both calendar and IW (and more cities) to get isn't as appealing to me as just researching Monarchy and eating a turn of revolt.

New sandbox, played up to T59, and with the newly discovered land added. I even managed to add the 2 missing beakers by putting a dye under a cottage for 1t - with the tech bonus for Priesthood that added 2b in a single turn, and gave the correct overflow beakers to Writing.

However, note that in the sandbox we get -11 gold at max research, while the actual game gives us -10 gold. Not sure what is up with that, or if my messing with world builder caused this.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Is inflation the same as in-game?

Ah, comparison with the game showed that Sullla took a screenshot with 2 priests in MM for T59.

Beakers for Writing are correct, as are the amounts of gold and the maintenance.

So, this is the contribution from C&D: we are likely in an Oracle race. Discussion can continue in other threads.

I haven't really studied the current micro plan in detail, but I reckon it should be fairly straightforward to finish both Math and the Oracle at eot67. We should probably redo the micro plan immediately though so that we can time our worker movements appropriately. Sacrificing the hammer efficiency on those chops is of course acceptable if it improves our odds in an Oracle race.

I have severe doubts that we can feasibly bring in another 30h into Oracle one turn earlier given that we don't have any more forests to chop and we're already whipping a worker into Oracle.

Well actually...we could just whip the Oracle. 2 pop would give us 30h. We would need to do the worker whip on t65, overflow and finish the chops t66, and then whip the Oracle on t67. We'd also need to make sure we don't lose so much natural production that we are missing more than 30h on t67.

Then again, it should definitely be possible to overflow nearly 30h if we do a second worker whip before the current worker whip. I still worry about natural production loss though.

Well...we could just whip the Oracle. We would need to do the worker whip AND the chops two turns earlier, and then whip the Oracle on t67.

Well as I said I haven't studied the micro plan but I'm sure it's worth looking into. Another option might be to build it in Focal Point?

This might be worth doing, timing it so that we build the Oracle on the same turn that we discover Mathematics. Obviously it would require some reworking of our worker plans, but I do think it would be possible. Whipping Mansa's Muse would be worth it if it landed us the Oracle and Currency. I wish there was some way to get more information on CivPlayers and their cities...

We still have time to consider this, but it's probably worth at least drawing up a provisional plan to build Oracle eot 67 instead of the current eot 68.
