There is no need to grab more grassland tiles with that city. Those tiles will be ours, taken by another city. It is a stronger position overall to be able to lighthouse the lake and to turn the useless desert tile to a city tile. Plus we overlap more cottages with the capital that the new city can grow - this is a benefit and not a malus. Aversion to overlap is a very SP mindset where you have to rush out to plant blocker cities before the AI's production bonuses outsettle you.

I'm not convinced the city is our best Moai choice, given that we don't have stone yet and there aren't that many water tiles. It's not bad, but I expect a city offshore to the west will be a better Moai site.

Mh

Settling 1N had one major advantage: we get one more in-culture forest in range, and 2 more forests in the first ring. This would allow us to chop those forests for the granary and WB, saving the others for AO. However, this is no longer a relevant point because we've already moved forward on a plan where we are chopping other forests.

Other than that, settling 1N is pretty much all drawback. We don't get a lighthoused lake, overlap is worse, and starting on the first turn of its existence the city costs $1 more because it's farther away.

FYI, there's a good chance I'll be losing power in the next day or so due to the big storm hitting the east coast of North America. It probably will not be an issue given our glacial turn pace, but if you see us down to a few hours left and I haven't logged in to play, feel free to have someone jump in. I'll try to let everyone here know what's going on if anything pops up.

Sullla - you should add a little 'you are here' sign. I'm just north of NYC and we have had solid cloud cover for two days. No rain (yet) but it is starting to get a little gusty.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I'm apparently in between the two of you. Started raining at 3:00pm. I feel like I should be plywood-ing all my windows given how hyped up the Frankenstorm is.

Save the plywood for the ark you're going to need. Been raining here in Virginia Beach for 2 days straight. Coastal flooding, but not as bad as we've seen before. You guys are going to get rocked, so hunker down. Good luck everyone, stay safe.

I don't see how you can expect Sulla to be able to determine where he is in that map. lol

I've logged in and taken the demo screen shots, but the analysis will have to wait a bit. I also set up our cities as per Seven's micro plan, but done no unit moves, so Something Fishy is still unsettled and the worker actions aren't done.

Can we get some screenshots? Are we definitely using Something Fishy as the name, or does that give away too much information?

Maybe I can get those later this evening, but our units are unmoved.

Should we designate mostly_harmless as our interim turnplayer until Sullla comes back?
