Shouldn't we wait for Iron in 1/2 turns before speculating on the next city location?

Well, the Spice City will be worth settling regardless, and I think it'd be worth abandoning binary research to get IW visible 1t earlier.

I'm also thinking about the Spice City placement. There is a flood plains 1E of the banana that the desert hill placement misses. With the flood plains and the banana the city can grow to size 2 in 6t and fill up its granary quite quickly, even without the corn. So I think we should consider a placement 1W of the banana carefully. There are also the two fogged but un-jungled tiles around the plains hill north of the banana - it's quite likely one of them holds a resource.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

I think it's highly unlikely that there's another resource there. There are already a bunch of resources in the area. If we were to catch an additional resource with the further location, then sure, that would make sense. But as it stands I don't think that one flood plain is worth more than planting on the desert hill.

And I do think the city is worth quite a bit by itself. Those spice tiles are very good and the rest is almost all riverside.

Ugh. I tried to follow that thing and document it properly, and it went well to start with but then unhappiness ensued on T77, and I had little clue about how everything was tied together.

One big trouble with this plan that I see is that we will work quite a bit of undeveloped tiles - on T78 we work the lake, a coast, and a grass forest. Both HF and AO are in desperate need of more developed tiles. I think we should try to work in a worker whip somewhere - doesn't really matter which city, but it seems FP has the most happiness to play with.

I do like an early lighthouse in HF and the earlier IW and Sailing - getting visibility of iron is good and getting an extra 2F in HF and another quality tile there (the lake) is quite valuable.

It is indeed a mess to type up using just the autosaves, since you need to look at the t74 autosave for the t73 tile assignments, and so on.

I think you're exaggerating the "big problem" with unimproved tiles being worked - I think those are the only three instances of that happening, and I would hardly call the lake an unimproved tile, really. It's just a byproduct of growing ASAP to our happy cap. When you look more closely, those cities are NOT in desperate need of more improved tiles. Putting more worker effort on those cities at this point would be a waste, our workers need to be setting up our new cities. If we had more workers in our core I would be sending those away from the core, too. AO has enough cottages for the time being, and HN can work lighthouse coast between whip cycles.

I recommend saving on every turn before hitting enter and providing that save stack instead. That is much easier to read than an autosave save stack. Not to mention that you can't always tell what the tile assignments of the previous turn are with the autosaves, due to governor reassignments and pop growths.

Just one quick comment about the novice plan before I try to digest all those savegame files (totally agree about please saving eot for future reference). You guys were all killing me about three days ago for not rushing over to the stone location immediately. This plan trades some larger city sizes and more infrastructure (lighthouse, more production in libraries, etc.) for much, MUCH slower expansion. In this version we're only settling the southwest city on T81, we don't have any kind of settler ready for the spices location, and the stone city simply will not happen at all, as there's no settler or galley available for transit. So make up your freakin minds about the stone city, everyone! lol

I honestly don't like this setup all that much; I'd much rather keep pushing settlers out while our happy cap is low. I simply don't agree that having a lighthouse or whatever gives us the same value. We're still roughly break-even at 60% science right now; we aren't anywhere near the point where we should pull back and stop pushing settlers.

There seemed to be a clear consensus on working the deer tile in Mansa's Muse right now as opposed to the capital. (Growth in Mansa's Muse over production overflow in capital, essentially.) I went ahead and made that change:

Mansa's Muse takes the deer, and Adventure One and Focal Point shuffle cottages as a result to ensure that they are all being worked. We are working identical tiles as before, just in different cities.

And now we play the waiting game again.

Sullla, it's different people pushing different agendas. I've never advocated a quick stone city. As a group, I agree we're schizophrenic, as is to be expected. lol

We can whip whatever to gear this plan towards grabbing stone or whatnot, or we can just keep growing. I think the plan does a fine job of maximizing our production and population between t73 and t80, though.
