We killed it with one axe and used the other axe to cover the worker who moved to the plains tile 2S of Gourmet Menu and roaded. Everything is on pace to found our new city next turn on the desert tile. As it turned out there wasn't another barb warrior in the area ready to kill any of our workers - but better safe than sorry.

Excellent, that we did not get any hits from the two barb battles, but a bit of a shame that you missed out on Seven's proposed variant, of moving the worker first and then using Wyn to kill he barb. Would have given Wyn the XP (he already had 5) and LEW could have ended the turn 2W of his current position.

Also, I suggest to move our CFC scout 1NE next turn to confirm there are also horses around.

As for the trade route with WPC, I guess we get some fogged route to them via the German lands? I can see no direct route to their network.

We're getting the trade route with WPC due to the same river:

This means that the Germans have culture all along the rest of the river that we haven't defogged. Edit: not necessarily. They could have a road that bridges any lapse in culture along the river. The road would have to be entirely in borders though.

Thanks.
Yes the Germans have a continuous culture region up there connecting Worms to the Wismar area.

Let's hope the Germans can hold Wismar then. smile

I've simmed through to turn 90, trying to get an idea of how we should manage our empire when our current plan runs out. Some points to discuss:

1. Farming the banana. I think we should not do this, we'll be expending 5 worker turns for a farm that will only exist for ~6 turns, so it's just 1.2 food for each worker turn. By comparison, a forest chop costs 4 worker turns and yields 30 hammers, so 7.5 hammers per worker turn. Tree Huggers won't really reach any growth thresholds faster by having the banana farm either. I believe we should chop the bananas, then move southwest with our workers to road and chop the silks, partbuilding cottages along the way, then part-cottage our way back to TH to plantation the banana. Then back to the silks to hook that up. (We can hook up the spices in the east the turn after we get Calendar, and we don't need both happy resources at once.) Tree huggers will grow to size 6 quickly following this plan, and will have cottages ready to work.

2. Expansion. I'm thinking Horse Feathers can produce a galley and a settler and settle the stone by t90. I'm not sure if we'll be building any more settlers before turn 90, actually, since Focal Point will be busy getting started on MoM, and MM will be stagnated at size 7 building workers while the spice city uses the corn. And we have an increased happy cap to fill out. If we do want more settlers we should discuss what direction to expand in. Which brings us to

3. Dotmap.
We need a dotmap for the jungle area. Here's one idea, that quickly grabs a lot of the jungle without us actually having to chop all that much of it yet: Settle a city 2E1N of the jungled rice, grabbing the river and both food resources.

A filler city 3E of TH could grab the remaining tiles and improve tile sharing possibilities, and we could also plant a front city on one of the river fork hills.

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

It's at 100% in m_h's screenshot in the C&D thread though.

I like the city spot, but we have to take into account that Germans will probably see that as a pretty aggressive plant. Especially since I remember a chat where we said we are done settling towards them for a while.

In the mid-term we have nothing to worry about Germans since they are crippling themselves with WPC, but it is a possible scenario that the war ends in ~10 turns and Germans remain as the No. 1 power globally.

I'm not yet voting yes or no, just thinking aloud smile

the spot novice poctured seems towards WPC, not the Germans, to me.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

That was before Sullla played the turn. His screenshot with 0% science is the more recent and according to plan.
