I went ahead and sent the most recent draft, except I proposed it with T175.
As for asking them - so far with diplo it seems that teams drag their feet on response times. I figure this is because they are probably too democratic on the responses. I envision teams like WPC holding polls with 10 options on what turn to propose the NAP to and crazy stuff like that. It sounds dumb, but teams actually do things like that. So if we want stuff to get done, it's probably best to take the initiative and give them a number to think about rather than leave it open-ended.

Damn, I'm too late, I think 175 is too binding. What if someone else attacks WPC and we would get an opportunistic chance to take couple border cities with a minor investment? Well, most likely we don't want to attack them before T175 and the offer is ok, but...

If we end up promising a stone gift to CFC, let's try to phrase it as a "gift of our excess stone" or something, since our western stone city looks like it could become a bit exposed, (so if we lose it we could cancel our stone gift since we no longer have an excess).
I have to run.

I'd really prefer not to mention the stone first, or even a permanent gift. Offer to send stone for limited periods, sure, but not permanently.
They were tardy to settle the area, so they can't get permanent access to stone. Simple as that.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

yeah.. its early still and they might end up being our competition to a stone wonder. and even if they aren't, I don't see the point of helping them complete their national wonders quicker. Even if we are getting along peacefully, they are still our opponents.
Let them offer us a happy resource we don't have for the excess stone . or something, at least.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

I definitely don't think we should immediately offer to gift the stone.

Me neither, hence the bolded part.

Alright, here's my first stab at a draft with CivPlayers. This may need some discussion if you think we should approach this message in a significantly different way. This is very much open to discussion, but we absolutely need to send something today. Here's my first stab:
Draft 1 to CivPlayers Wrote:CivPlayers,
Greetings from Realms Beyond! Our axe was exploring west of our new city last turn, and a sharp-eyed teammate spied green borders poking through the fog. I think the rule is you can't make contact until you have official contact in-game though, so to play it safe, I waited to send this until today when we now have contact in-game. It's nice to finally meet your team! We haven't met a new team for awhile now, so it's nice to resume filling out our contacts.
Have you guys met many other teams? We've met the German team, WePlayCiv, and CFC. We've had no real issues with any of them, although the German team and WePlayCiv have been knocking each other around for awhile now. The German team is the closest to you out of all of them, the rest are not all that close.
I'd love to open up a NAP discussion with your team. Perhaps we can share intel about the map that we've both gathered so far too, that way we can both get an edge on the rest of the teams. Any thoughts on these ideas?
FYI - I'm scooter, and I'm sort of the primary contact for RB. Any of your team leaders can feel absolutely free to add me on google chat - realmsbeyondscooter@gmail.com. I'd be happy to catch up on the game by chat if you'd like - sometimes it works better than email.
Thanks!
scooter - Team RB
(I realize somebody just floated the idea of attacking them. I don't think that option needs to be 100% dismissed, but in the meantime, we still need to consider what we'll say if we attempt to move forward peacefully)

I sent this to CFC in accordance with our deal:
RB Wrote:Caledorn,
I just wanted to inform your team that we met CivPlayers this turn. They are to our west - across the lake that we have. We'll be sending them a message shortly, but I wanted you guys to be in the loop right away about our new contact.
Thanks!
scooter
Figured this did not warrant discussion, and timeliness would be appreciated.
