[spoilers] Commodore: Worse than Toku, it's Giggles of Siam!

yeah, because hte axe has less than 100hp fewer rounds of combat need to be lost for the axe to reach 0hp and die.

Yep! Someone like Sareln is more conversant on the particulars, but the odds calculation is here odds of winning each round (axe slightly more likely) and amount of damage dealt each round. Note the galley combat: We actually both won 5 rounds, but his hits were 19/100 each, mine were 20/100.

One minor thing in the screens above you might have noticed, we now have trade routes to the Vikings, Mayans, and Porch-uggles. Azza traded his maps with us this turn, and um...wow. There are seven of us all on this one landmass.

MAYA:

Serdoa is in a weird position here. He's only got two cities of "core" but they are the best in the world, giant and well-wondered. Beyond that, he's been avoiding the skinny jungle (intersecting with Azza/Pooter) and instead settling via galley. He's got this big bay area to himself, so Colossus is huge for his GNP going forward. Astronomy will be painful for him. As I said before, he'll has an awkward time defending overland against knights, let's finish off the Zulu, get to two dozen cities, and then see who is top dog.

VIKINGS:

Poor Brick, at least this time he's avoided settling on any deer. His iron is as much of a reach as ours is, and his dry, dry core won't ever amount to much. Still, Agg/Imp Vikings means he's got options. a heavy REX to the fair unclaimed lands westward would be good, and that's some attractive island land east. Nav1 galleys and Agg axes means he should be able to hold what he claims for quite a while, as long as the southern iron remains secure.

PORTUGAL (and India):

Speaking of, here's Xenu (and a little bit of CFC/Nakor). Xenu's got a hate-worthy capital and amazing first ring...which promptly turns to suck expanding further out. The gems + Chm makes his empire damned tall, should be interesting to see what he does with it. Either strike north or south.

India is on a separate landmass, who knows how big it is.

Borderlands:

This is where Serdoa wins or loses. Can Xenu/Brick move west to block him, or is this Maya's second core unto victory? We'll have to just see.

Grats on the Zaxby's raze. jive

not sure if we can do it, and threaten their seafood but....

If we can manage to keep the galley alive it opens up some highly entertaining options once we've secured our Eastern flank. wink.

Techwise, post ellethumps....

Myst/Med/Phood/Monarchy would give us the ability to grow the cap at will. Plus an extra worked tile in garrisoned cities.

For about the same cost as Currency.

Long live the King! wink

Agreed about the kingly path...but Myst-Poly-Mono-Monarchy isn't much more expensive, while opening OR as well, plus Theology for our own religion if needed.

Oh yes. And don't worry, plan is to make this galley a wide-awake nightmare for many turns to come. If you'll examine the front; even if they've whipped LJS/McD's into a galley, I can move S,SE and look into those cities without worrying about the galley(s), because Oar Rarr's flotilla can still pillage and retreat. If Yuri's Battalion yet lives, we can even threaten both cities the next turn, too. Running away/healing behind the fort canal, they'll need two galleys to safely contain it.

Right now if we can kill the Zulus in good time I favor expanding organically; this is a lot of good land needing cottages and infra. I'm not going to dismiss the notion out of hand, but a million knights an era from now is my favored way to strike north.

Man I wish Yuri's Battalion had an extra move. Still, scratch some seafood, and now they have to reinforce/whip McD's. I'll retreat, heal up, get another axe, and go hit White Castle. Evil

McDonald's time is nigh, in any case. First run of catapults, out. There is a slight chance, I guess, of the chariot/impi combo going blindly 2SW, but even then we get odds on the first hitter, and have archers underneath as needed. I want Popular Point clear and settled stat, by the way. Great Wall, Hanging Gardens, Moai...

Two more cats are moving out from the core, by the way, being helped by bridges. Any further thoughts on TM as the academy/capital, Thoth?

Construction means not just catapults and bridges, though: We're Creative! Next turn, the grass hill mine 2W will finish, and so Lakeside will swap from the plains hill mine to the grass hill and grow to size 9 while finishing the Colosseum. Score!

Whipping sucks, let's not do more, eh? On the plus side, Pro means regrowing fast.

Soldiers are nice though...
