Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

Alright, very simple draft to CivPlayers:

Draft to CivPlayers Wrote:OT4E/Civplayers,

I'll send this message to both of you just to make sure it gets to the right person. If you would both like to be on emails, I will just reply-all from now on.

Thanks so much for the quick response! Much appreciated. I like the idea of getting our teams agreed to a basic NAP with 10-turn cooldown so we can ensure peace in the short-term, and then we can move forward on other arrangements. How about we put a small minimum timeframe on it - let's say the earliest either of us can begin NAP cancellation is T110. How does that work for you? That would mean there's no possibility of conflict until at least T120, which gives us plenty of time to figure out how our teams can work together best. If you'd like to adjust the minimum cancellation date or do away with it completely, let me know, we can be flexible for you guys.

We're really interested in signing Open Borders with your team. We have a pretty new city to the east of our axe, and we think we can build a road between our city and yours so that we can get trade routes going. That would be a nice economic boost for both of us. Do you have any interest in signing Open Borders with us?

Thanks,
scooter - Team RB

Goal: not get too distracted by less significant things (border talks can wait) - focus on getting the NAP and OB first, then move onto the other things. Thoughts?

Agreements are listed in the second post of the Diplo Tracker thread.

The next NAP that ends is WPC at T100. That's coming up pretty quickly - 8T away means, well, 3 weeks or so lol. But if we don't hear back from WPC pretty soon, I may lean on them a little bit to make sure this thing gets done.

I'll let this sit overnight for input, and if things are mostly OK I'll send it in the morning.

Oh hey, I just remembered something.

Remember how we were unsure about if the Spanisht team would trust us at all?

Considering we named our capital "Airship One", it's going to stir up a whole load of unpleasant memories for the spaniards!

Nic. Our capital is named Adventure One.

...I don't know why I suddenly thought it was named Airship One. Must have been someone mentioning it in the Dotmapping thread.

Uh, I need coffee?

Anyways, it'll be good for us to mention the existence of BbB, so they don't get a nasty shock themselves. If they're naive, they may even think that city is on the other side of the lake! So I'm good with that diplo.

Also, the city name was Airstrip One. As in the new name of Britain in 1984.

scooter - i wouldnt say our city in the E is new. I'd like them to have the impression that we are well-established in that area. for all they know right now, we could be.

What sort of warning are we planning on giving CFC for when we pink dot? If they get pissed and attack us, it leaves us in a much worse position than if we can maintain peace until we've cleaned up the German team and WPC.
Reply

The idea is to give them as much warning as possible but not so much that they could outrace us to the spot.
