Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

They're a bunch of MP guys, right? Basically PAL rebooted on the diplo front?

They should have some members from PAL, I think, yes.

This current CivPlayers team actually has nothing in common with the old PAL team. That team was led by whiplash, Indiansmoke, and tonyciv. They were solid ladder players but not particularly famous (and tonyciv was one of the biggest asses I remember from the online community).

The CivPlayers "team" that we're up against is mostly just OT4E. They only have four people listed on their roster over at CFC, and I'm pretty sure it's a small group, mostly OT4E with Decebal and IPlayCiv. OT4E is famous for being one of the best players in the world in the Ironman competitions at the Clan Championship Cup, winning over and over again in that event. (Ironman is when you start in the Ancient era at the beginning of the game and play until someone achieves a victory condition, usually space. No turn limit like most other events.) I've said a couple of times before, both CivPlayers and CivFr have some extremely good players and should not be underestimated.

As far as I can tell, there's not even one person from the old PAL to be on the current CivPlayers team.

Ah okay. Then I'd be more wary since the PAL team wasn't that good from what I saw.

My point isn't about team members, it's that everything from their civ pick, to their diplo-silence, to their MP background suggests they are a "might makes right" team.

Message received from CFC:

Quote:Hi Scooter,

We hope your dealings with Spanish Poly have started off well. I think they're pretty good with English, since they always send us messages in English.

I'm not sure where CFC Welcome Wagon went, but the way to Uciv is mostly fogged and through the jungle. There's about four solid tiles of jungle and then you'll hit their southern borders. They're using an "Asterix the Gaul" theme.

We'd appreciate directions around your western lake to CivPlayers. We look forward to meeting them soon.

Directions are easy.

Caledorn should go:

NW into the great city of Adventure One, then 3SW where he can try the famed food stalls of Gourmet Menu, renowned for their clam chowder, and from there due westwards after rounding the southern tip of the sea.

The closest city of CivPlayers is 7 tiles east of Gourmet Menu, and the land is open with a few hills. We don't see any barbs there right now.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

And while they've been silent they've been whipping units (if I haven't misunderstood kjn's c&d) do we need some more defense in bbb?

Not sure if they see it or know of BbB, but they will soon.

Methinks they don't care about NAPs, they are a team we definitely can't leave any temptations. Though I'd be more worried if they had a real power spike, instead of merely steady growth.

Kjn, got any threat assessments about the CPers? And does anyone have an overview of our defences? I don't think its freak out time yet, just wanna make sure.
