Archivist Revealed

Joining the Barbarian, Witch Doctor and Wizard, the archivist is on the official site now. I'm wondering if Blizzard are going to get around to bringing in character classes that actually interest me.

You're 11 days too late there. Funny that it's still up...

Yeah well... Still good for a giggle. I'm guessing there were plenty of WTF moments being had by all and sundry watching that guy go splat at the briefest touch of that zombie.

Seems a lot of trouble to go to on Blizzard's part though. Art, design, implementation in the game...

I thought the Archivist is interesting in that at least you don't see this profession in every other rpg. I like the way it moves - slooooow - which might mean it could be (one of the) most powerful class. It has to balanced (hehe) somehow, right?

If nothing interest you now you might be in trouble. Not sure what will interest you. You know the last of the five is going to be a ranger of some sort. Just guessing they are not going to go without bow or some form of throwing weapons in the game. Who is going to use up dex?

Double facepalm KoP. tongue

Bows have been spotted in the game, so some class that can use bows is likely. The might use more than just bows, but I thought this was a weakness of the amazon design - very unfocused. Of course they may repeat their same errors [Image: rolleyes.gif] but this team is so different, that they're sure to make completely different mistakes.

I think some more civilized melee character is probable for the other one - whether the knight/warrior archetype, or something more theif/assassiny. I remember the designers presented their new chars as "morally ambiguous" so I doubt we will see a straight-up paladin... let alone a class based on party buffs when they are talking about smaller party sizes (4ish) and actually caring about balance this time around.

From the DII offical forums :yikes

We’re preparing for a Diablo II ladder reset to coincide with the release of the 1.13 patch that’s currently in development. We don’t have a final release date for the patch yet, but we’re providing early warning as a reset could occur as early as the end of April. We’ll be providing updates with more certain dates once the patch is closer to release.

Please be aware that with a ladder reset all ladder characters are moved to non-ladder. This means that your characters will still be accessible but will no longer have access to ladder-only features and games. In order to play in the new ladder season after the reset you will need to make new ladder characters.

This thread will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
