Seems likely to me that HBR after saving so much gold signifies they are planning to get war elephants. Although, HBR before math would be a strange choice. Are we completely sure they don't already have math?

They only have three classical-era techs, including HBR. Code of Laws they Oracled, and they're in Hereditary Rule, so they must have teched Monarchy. That's all.

I might have done some mistake somewhere, but missing Math for them would take some doing.

There's no reason to tech Horseback Riding unless you're preparing to go to war. The tech has essentially no economic value. We need to pin down CivPlayers diplomatically and establish one of two things:

* Either they sign a real NAP and go attack someone else.
* Or we'd better be get ready to defend against an incoming attack.

I see no middle ground, one or the other is going to happen. Up to our diplomats to try to convince them that they'd do better to go attack an easier target.

We leave what CivPlayers is doing for news from more distant lands:
[Image: ISDG-T98-post-civfr%2Bunivers-demos.jpg]

CivFr performed 2 1-pop whips, one 6->5 and one 3->2 (the latter in a city that just grew). This lowered them to 41 pop, and their power with 1000.

Univers performed one 2-pop and one 1-pop whip, and there are two possibilities for them: either one 7->8 and one 4->2 whip, or one 7->5 and one 2->1 whip. Given that Univers are EXP, I think the latter is more likely, but one can never be sure. They have 37 pop now, and lowered their power with 2000.

It is of interest that our population ranking didn't change, but stayed at 4, despite Univers whipping away 147000 population.

Meeting Univers

With our scout finding Univers we get some more C&D data:

They currently make 24gpt and have 62g.

They are currently in Hereditary Rule and Slavery, so they know Monarchy, which GNP analysis confirms. GNP analysis also shows that they know Archery and Meditation. They have no city on the top cities screen.

As for their theme, um, I'm not really sure, um:

(That's from the APTmod espionage info.)

If I may make a recommendation, I'd like us stop putting EPs onto CivPlayers for now, until we can get some more points generated - they're easily going to outspend us from a long time. That leaves the Spanish and Univers, and I'd really like to get graph visibility on Univers before the APTmod graphs become far less useful.

Agree with EP spending change.

I like it just because it sends CivPlayers a 'we don't care enough about you to even get your graphs' message. lol

Are they outspending us so much that we can't even get their graphs?

CivPlayers on us: 84 +10
Us on CivPlayers: 28 +4

Required for getting their graphs (at current values): 58

Here're the needed EPs for graphs versus different opponent EPs:

CivPlayers, 84: 58
CFC, 64: 49
WPC, 34: 40
Flunky, 8: 32
Spanish, 0: 30
Univers, 0: 29

I think the overall EP values also matter, and CivPlayers is at 472 +14 right now (we are at 384 +4). Ie, I think they're increasing the required value for their graphs with 2 or 3 for each turn as long as they put 10 EPs on us.

We should definitely check how this changes as the turn rolls. It will take us at least 15 turns to just catch up to their graphs, and in that time we can get the graphs of both the Univers and the Spanish.

Yes, but having the graphs for CivPlayers would be extremely valuable, while having the graphs for UniversCiv and Spanish Apolyton would be almost worthless. Do we really care what weak teams on the other side of the world are doing? I still think it's more valuable to keep spending against CivPlayers, to help push us towards a future date where we can see their Demos.
