yeah, I noticed that too. he's pre-chopping, I guess the roads make it easier to put in a bunch of final chops at once smile.

we have a lot of workers with not much to do for the time being anyway.

Bigger pretty much summed up why there are so many roads.

I had plenty of worker turns and I want to be able to move all workers into position to chop straight into the Mids once Monotheism comes in.

The hills will be mined at some point I'm sure, so putting a road up now will at least save a worker turn or so later on. Plus it gives them something to do.

Bigger -> what do you think of sending the Axe that will come out of Business Cat in a few turns to ninja's horse city and see what's around?

I've offered Open Borders to him in the meanwhile.

Next turn is the big one...

5 chops ready to go in with workers in place to do them as soon as I adopt Organized Religion.

Judaism didn't fall so its likely we will have two religions too.

Once we hopefully have pyramids, its time for us to start growing out and making sure we grab our land before anybody else does. I'll be surprised if we don't have other players to our east and south who have either missed us or not travelled up to us yet.

ninja has been unlucky in that regard as I have had research visibility on him for ages as I have noone else to invest my EPs on

be careful - you have a minechop coming in pyramids city the same turn we discover OR. just make sure to have workers "stop action" the turn before so they don't process the action before you convert to OR, and waste the extra hammers.

as for moving the axe - maybe the second one? we need more military out of that city anyway smile and a settler out of the capital wink

Don't worry, all worker actions are stopped. I have made sure that no chops will go it prior to us adopting OR.

I think that axe needs to be keeping an eye on the land south of Business Cat because that is where I want to settle next. I do not want to let ninja settle any more cities east of his second city. Also, if I can kill/capture that city (I won't rule that out just yet) then it would be worth it.

Adopted Organized Religion and 4 of the 5 chops went in.

Cocked up the mine one by doing it last of the 5 and pressing chop rather than mine. It will go in next turn and I'll send workers to chop remaining forests.

With all the production so far, we are 9 turns from completion. With the other 3 chops, I'm hoping it won't be more than 4 turns.

The chop produces 30 base hammers as part of normal production, and production modifiers are calculated at end of turn. A whip is calculated at the moment that you press the button, however. (Modifiers on its overflow would still be at end of turn.)

ah thats good to know. I wasn't sure, didn't want to take the risk.

Would this be the case for non-spiritual civs as well?

Yes, you'd be in anarchy and wouldn't have any production that turn at all. Note that I deleted my post because I reread your original post and on the second reading it looked like you meant that the mine would complete one turn prior to adopting OR (since you said discover which I take to mean discover Monotheism). That doesn't really fit with what TT said though, so it looks like it was the same turn after all.

Mine chop went in this turn and we're down to 7 turns to complete. Should definitely be done in 3 turns at the most with 3 more chops that can come in.

Also - someone has just birthed a great scientist
