I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Looking good, hanging gardens is always a fun wonder to build smile.

Quote:Since we have 300 beakers into the tech right now, and it costs 630, this leaves us exactly 2 beakers short of the tech. crazyeye But that's fine, as we don't need it next turn for anything, and we can run 0% science and pick up Construction the following turn while also piling up 120 more gold for the coffers.

If we could benefit from bridges to speed up our workers the turn after next, it's probably worth it to run a scientist or two (or reconfigure the tiles) to get the tech next turn.

And Silver too. smile It would be nice to get triple benefit from Forges too when we start building them.

One tile is in the fog that we can defog by moving the axe onto the ivory before we move the galley.

The other thing is that it costs us a worker turn, since we want to unload the worker inside BbB so it can get to work immediately.

Our settler can hug the coast moving from BbB to the ivory, staying hidden from Aztec cultural vision.

This is one place where doing the simulation made a difference. We have exactly enough food to grow to size 7 in Horse Feathers next turn after Hanging Gardens goes through, 32/32 food. When I tested this, working the grassland hill this turn left us one food short of growth next turn. This is one case where I'm not simply picking tiles at random. smile

The Great Person in Mansa's Muse is targeted for roughly T120 to T125 depending on how many specialists we work. As long as we do land Great Wall, we should definitely have our Great Person ready by T125 at the absolute latest. Our long term goal was to have Civil Service discovered in time for a first-turn swap into Bureaucracy, and then have Philosophy tech ready on the fifth turn for running as many turns of Caste System/Pacifism as possible before swapping back to Slavery/Organized Religion on the last turn. If we popped a Golden Age around roughly T125, I'm confident we can have Civil Service by that date and Philosophy by T130.

Ruff, landing in the jungle peaks region is a no-go because we have no defensive units on board that galley, only a worker and a settler. It's not worth the risk when we can arrive the same time by unloading through Brick By Brick. Besides, CivPlayers should have no vision on the movement anyway:

Vision on the tile northwest of the horses is blocked by the forest tiles between our borders. Only a peak tile can see over forests; note how our own view of the tile east of their cows is blocked by those same forests. CivPlayers will have no vision unless there's a unit of theirs physically up there by the ivory.

sooooo, there is no benefit to any workers (via bridges) from speeding up Construction by a turn. Believe me, I would have done it if there was any place where it sped us up by a turn.

The war chariot in Starfall right now is going to explore the south as soon as we kill this current barb axe on our border. This one is Combat I, which means we'll at least do better than a coinflip if we run into another barb axe.

Here's an idea no one else has raised yet: how about we research Aesthetics next after we go Construction -> Code of Laws. We need the tech anyway soonish to get Literature for the Epics, it's fairly cheap to research (450 beakers compared to 630 for Construction/Code of Laws) about we're about to connect a source of ivory. That means a very easy Statue of Zeus build in Focal Point: the wonder costs 300 shields, and we produce 38 production/turn (with ivory bonus) just by running our high production mines setup. One worker whip overflow, 5-6 turns of natural production, and the wonder would be ours. This is assuming the Focal Point doesn't have to start forcing out military to defend against a CivPlayers attack, of course.

I mean... if we had Great Wall and Statue of Zeus, that would be like a gigantic sign saying "do not attack this team", right? biggrin

I actually think this is one of the occasions where SoZ would be good. With ivory and runaway status, that wonder has definite value.

I know, I read the micro plan. smile

Even so, I think we should work the mine now and delay growth to size 7. After all, we will only grow onto more coast. If we insist on growing next turn, we can work a coast instead of the silks then, or we can work the hill instead of the silks this turn. My vote is to delay growth.

That sounds like a fun plan! Though I'd rather slot that in after HBR for some wellies first. That should scare WPC more than some stupid wonder wink

Something else to consider, since we can't complete Construction on EoT104 (or BoT105), maybe we should simply dial down research so that the green bar only fills half-way. Instead of having those 2 beakers tease us and inflating our GNP.

Sounds like working the mine gives up (net) 1f, 6c to get 6h after the stone bonus? I like the swap for score suppression reasons, even if the tile yields are pretty balanced.

I'd like to see HBR before aesthetics. Flashing an elephant- just one- would pour cold water on CivPlayers' hopes.

On the other hand, if we do go for Aesth, Zeus in BbB would be nice for closing off that unsettled FP area. This only works if we have relative security of elephants in hand.

SoZ is worth building but I think HBR is more important. I don't think we should build SoZ in FP. SoZ's effect can be powerful but so is its culture. I would build it in say ST. BB is the best spot for it, but it may be too hard to defend there.

Can we promote axeman Lew to level 4 please? 10 experience does not unlock the HE, level 4 does. I don't want to have some sort of freak accident where we lose the unit before we can promote it. Just take C3 or Formation.
