[SPOILERS] scooter, pindicator, and Huayna Capac try some fast Zulu cuisine

Niiiiice, Brick just took a Xenu city according to Civstats. Captured, not razed. So that's why Xenu spent several hours on the turn. Looks like we're pretty safe from Xenu. smile

Looks like 2 cities.
Suddenly i'm a lot less worried about xenu sniping FG.

Jumped in to take a peek, and we were greeted by a message:

Given how random quests spawn, we may be the only one to get it or we may be the last to get it. But libraries are going to be one of the buildlings we focus on, so maybe we'll get a little more lucky.

As for xenu, he may be in a bit of trouble. I dug up a picture scooter took of their cities a few turns back, and here are the two he lost:

I'm guessing that Brick has gone all in here. His cities are all whipped down low: most are size 2.
We need to root for xenu in this one - but it's pretty out of our control.

But in the meantime we should be able to take FG on our own timeline. Speaking of FG, it hit size 4. I think we can expect another whip there this turn.

Edit:

Looking things over a bit...

1) We can whip Culver's settler next turn. City #8 coming up!
2) Swapped Clam City for a work boat. Not sure where else we're going to get one, although really a work boat and a granary are both going to do the same thing for its +fpt so maybe it is better to have the granary (now that i log out...) and have another city build the work boat, even if the wb comes out slower for it.
3) We should get a unit to the forest 1N of the oasis and park it there. This will prevent barbarians from spawning in the middle of Atlantis

Edit #2:

Nakor ended turn right as I was leaving, so I jumped in and played.

Moved up the galleys, and moved an impi from JJ to the middle to cover our worker coming from the north. Moved everything up and called it good.
Oh, and the worker at Dairy Queen: decided to farm the forest tile he is on. The city will need more food than just the +5 we'll get from the clam & lighthouse. And the farm+chop won't finish until after borders pop.

Also: Nakor didn't whip, nor did he finish a unit on the turn before.

That quest is easily one of the best ones we could have gotten. Libraries aren't that cheap but it's definitely doable. Anyone want to look up the rewards for us? tongue

Lame bonuses. I'll take +2BPT for something we'd be doing anyway, but that's not a huge boost. No way are we getting GLib (has it fallen already?).

Random scattered and short-sighted thoughts.

1) That's a lousy quest reward.
2) City count: Scoopin 7, Xenu 5
3) Seriously though, if you look you can see Xenu's iron just 1N of Red Fish. He's going to lose it soon I bet. Brick might be able to pull this off.
4) Let's hope Xenu doesn't join in on the "pick up your army and sail away to conquer Atlantis" game.
5) Azza just now logged in and played. Hopefully I can jump in before the turn roll to see if he accepted the ivory trade.
6) I'm not totally sure I'm rooting for Xenu - I don't like having such a loose cannon of a neighbor. Then again, I really don't want a Viking neighbor. Rooting for a bloody stalemate I guess.
7) Those whips Xenu is doing to his massive cities will hurt our trade route income frown.

So, I'm trying to figure the best way to get Clam City up and running.

(Also, we need a rename on Clam City.)

Do we...

1) whip the work boat at Clam City at size 2, then whip granary after working clam and forest? Followed by a lighthouse whip
2) have another city build the work boat (probably JJ after its lighthouse build) and whip the granary & forest there instead?
3) chop the work boat out? The new city is going to be planted t134, and we could have a chop lined up to finish on t135. Then whip lighthouse/granary in some order? (With no 2f tiles to work apart from bare grass this could be one of those instances where it's better to build lighthouse before granary.)
4) whip the work boat and put the chop into the granary/lighthouse so we can quickly 1-pop whip that as well?
5) Other?

Also, I gotta start looking at the event log. Xenu signed peace with India last turn, so we have no competition to taking FG
Brick got a GG for his attack. And miners in Azza-stan died to an unfortunate accident

I think some variation of 3 or 4 would work best. Clams has the chop available like you said, and I think we need to take advantage. Other cities have too many pressing needs to be able to slip in a WB build.

A granary costs 60 and a WB costs 30. A chop into a granary puts it in 1 pop whipping range, otherwise we'll be waiting quite a long time for that. So let's start a granary immediately while growing. As soon as the city is settled, chop into granary, then 1 pop whip it to completion. Then we whip the WB. After that Lighthouse. Then we should be able to just grow onto FIN coast and get some value out of the city (in addition to the trade routes obviously).

The issue I see with going WB first is we then have to get to sz4 before we can whip the granary, because it's going to be a 2 pop whip. I think it's quicker (and much more efficient) to make them both 1 pop whips.
