Munchkin time!

More like Talisman and Lords of Waterdeep...
(Well, and whatever else the denizens of the FLGS game night pull out. The Battlestar Galactica game is surprisingly good, as it turns out, but I digress.)

My real point there was that I eventually realized I enjoyed the tactical combat minigame more than I enjoyed the roleplaying. 4e has a very nice tactical system. I hear it even works reasonably for pitting (exp-equivalent) monster groups against each other, if you want to.

I read a couple reports of the BSG board game, it's actually pretty interesting.

I'd say the short pitch is that it's basically Arkham Horror with a traitor (or two).

There's enough going on to keep the cooperative challenge people entertained, and there's enough potential backstabbing to give the people who like paranoia games something to chew on.
(I'm proud to say I'm 5-0 so far including one win as a Cylon, but usually I'm a terrible traitor.)

I always heard the BSG game described as similar to Werewolf / Mafia, rather than Arkham Horror.
Probably has something to do with significantly more people in the group liking Werewolf than like/know about Arkham...

As I said, I'm abysmal at traitor games. It turns out that having something we actually need to work on together makes it a lot more fun to try to figure out who's sabotaging stuff.
It's like Arkham Horror in that you spend your turn trying to mitigate whatever crisis you're in and then you draw a card from the (very aptly named) "crisis deck", which is basically the "and now bad things happen" deck.

Anyway, apologies for the threadjack.

Nah, Arkham you sit there and let one person do everything for everyone, while hoping you draw "Join the Winning Team" tongue
