Well, things change. Early in the game, losing a beaker or two to rounding is significant, as are the other advantages of binary research (retain flexibility to change research, delay for research multipliers), and the GNP spike is small. Later, the rounding vanishes, we're set on our tech path, not adding multipliers, and the GNP spike could be large enough to scare somebody.
I think a beaker or two worth of rounding is a tiny price to pay to potentially avert making one of our rivals panic and start attacking. Remember they may not understand like we do how prerequisite bonuses induce an illusory spike in GNP.

I've actually always thought that it's harder to gauge a player's research capacity when their GNP is spiking up and down than when it's mostly linear.

I'd say let's do what's best for us (EDIT: in terms of retaining flexibility and micro plans etc). It seems like even if someone tilts now, we'd see it coming miles away and possess huge whip advantages to blunt any foolishness.

I'd say just go for it. If any of the other teams hasn't pegged us as major competition already, I'd be very disappointed.

Yeah I really don't think GNP hiding is going to mask the fact that we're way ahead of everyone.

Yeah, it is kinda like decorating your tank columns like parade floats at this point. We are already really far ahead and our direct threats are competent enough to not be fooled.

The turn rolled. There is a barb spearman that appeared S-SE of Seven Tribes. C&D report later tonight.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width
