Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

On the contrary, I thought the plan was use MP units to grow the capital as much as possible under Bureaucracy.
I thought the Archers weren't worth the hammers on Missionaries, but trading our Excess Gems doesn't cost us any hammers at all.

Ok - then make it 10g (or 15g) per turn ... see how much they really want it.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

People remember negative things more than positive. I still think we should just gift/trade gems, if we ever want Dyes. Also, most of our deals benefit both of us.

Do we want to to push EP agreement with apolyton more? We could say we got code of laws and will be building court houses soon. Them spending more EP will not be of any use....

If we absolutely have to do something with the gems, just give it to them, no need to be stingy over 10g, that would just make us look asinine.

Personally I think having the gems available is a good thing. We're getting offers from teams, even if they don't pan out, teams are interested in us, and interested in dealing with us. Just the hope of getting a deal with us is a good thing if they're deciding between working against us or another team imo. Even if it's not a major factor, it'd be more likely to benefit us greater than 15 or 20g would.

I don't see why we should keep handing out sweetheart deals, but a 10 turn gift is fine.

Gifting the gems to WPC will be a signal to every other team (including the Germans) that we are working together. I'm not sure if that is what we want to show the world so soon.

Other than that, remember how demanding a gpt payment basically caused UniversCiv to stop talking to us altogether. WPC probably won't react that strongly, but I doubt they'll be happy about it either.

So no, I don't favor a trade right now unless both sides benefit relatively equally.

I'm in favour of keeping our second gems. There's nothing we need right now, but there may well be something later that we need and it would be awkward to cancel the gems gift then.

This is the perfect excuse for WPC. I think it should be included in the message to them.

I agree. We should say that a Gems gift might make the Germans suspicious.
Once WPC have connected their Furs, we'll be happy to trade.
(And if we get our own source before then, too bad for WPC.)
