Well right, but we can't lightbulb Education without taking Alphabet first. We also won't have any clue how close anyone else is in the Liberalism race without being able to see their techs. And the ability to build Research could also be useful for last minute beaker shenanigans.

If we expect to be in a race, we definitely want to knock out the 540 beaker Alphabet tech so that we can burn a Great Scientist for ~1800 beakers towards Education.

I'm saying that we can bulb Education without taking Alphabet. Education is very high on the Scientist bulb list.

I thought alphabet was a pre-req for bulbing philosophy?

Also, isn't tech trading on? Seems that would make alphabet a bigger priority - maybe we can trade for some of the cheaper ones like HBR, Metal casting.

or did we win that argument? haha, I forget.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Tech Trading is off.

So sure, we can skip Alphabet. After all, if we're spending 500ish beakers on Alphabet, that's 500 less beakers into the Lib race.

If tech trading was on, there's no way we'd be playing this game - Tech Trading + Full Diplomacy + Teams makes it Civplomacy, The Game.

No, tech trading is definitely off or this game and its diplo would have been vastly different.

Why HBR in there though? I wouldn't say it's terribly useful at least until we have guilds. WCs are more hammer efficient than HAs after all.

Edit: Wow, not one but two cross posts.

It wasn't much of an argument. No one disagreed. No team wanted tech-trading on.

I assume it would be for war elephants. It wouldn't be for HAs since we don't have archery anyway.

Do we need WE's yet? We're still NAPped up.
Can't we:
Drama -> Music -> Metal Casting -> Philosophy -> Liberalism beeline
