OK, I think we should offer to lend them gems for 10t prior to hooking up their gems, in exchange for getting marble by t130. (We only need it t131 and can negotiate to that, but I think it's worth trying to get a margin of error here.)
Edit: Suggested structure:
This deal would be acceptable to us. We would be able to use marble as soon as you can make it available. If you can get it to us by t130 we are additionally willing to lend you our gems for 10 turns immediately, so you can have the extra happiness while you wait for your own gems to be cleared.)
Edit 2: We need to be slightly aware about the details here as they have not specified when they will give us the worker which we are promising to chop their jungle with.

Um, it sounds like they're asking for Iron Working for the jungle chopping?

no, they are asking us to chop the jungle tile for them using their worker, since we have iron working already.
and good grief they are expanding into a lot of jungle cities for a civ that doesnt have iron working.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

No, Apolyton gets sugar from CivFr too, IIRC.

Before anyone asks again, Tech Trading is indeed off for this game.

d. Unit Gifting, Unlock Building - Gifting a unit with experience that would remove the unit experience restriction for the Heroic Epic is not allowed. Gifting a unit with experience that would remove the unit experience restriction for West Point is not allowed.
So no restrictions on worker gifts.
One way we can handle the unit gifting is that they send a worker to Horse Feathers and gifts it to us, and we send one of the workers around Ditchdigger to clear the jungle, and then gift them back to them there. Probably the quickest way to get one of those workers back to our core

Draft to German Team:
Draft Wrote:GWT,
Your suggested deal works fine for us, so we're happy to accept. Your timeframe for the marble is OK, but if you're willing to speed it up we'd be happy to offer a little extra in return. If you can speed it up and promise to get us the marble by T130, we would be willing lend you gems immediately so that you have gems while waiting for your own source to get hooked. Is this OK with you? A quick answer would be best if possible so we know if we need to send you gems now or not.
If you can't do that, that's fine, we still have a deal for the spices/marble swap. Just let me know if this works for you guys.
Thanks,

I sounds good, but what if they inevitably fuck up their micro and it gets delayed? I'd like to account for any failure states.
Would an implication of rage be a good incentive? Nah, that's too aggressive and threatening. And besides, we're going to rage out on them anyway!

We are getting our benefit from the deal before they get theirs, in general, so we will have all the leverage. So this is not something we need to worry about. If they renege on their part of the deal they can't stop us from cancelling the spice trade, not chopping their jungle, and even keeping the worker they lent us.

FIne by me, but I'd alter the penultimate sentence to "If you can't do that, that's fine, we still have a deal for the spices and jungle chop for marble deal." (mentions the jungle chop again in case they think we're taking that out)
