I think the idea there is to overflow to the library, and then be in a good position to whip the library once we get marble deliveries from the Germans.
A theatre is arguably more useful in Eastern Dealers than Forbidden Fruit: it makes for earlier culture domination against the stupid CFC city, and having more specialist slots in the NE city can't be a bad thing, especially before we can get the market there.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Aside from the globe requirement, a Theatre helps to culturally crush that CFC city. That by itself should be enough reason to finish it.

If I'm reading the micro plan correctly, the theatre in ED isn't started yet though. So it could make sense to build the Library there and then the NE. If we decide we want a theatre there later we could whip it into the NE. The city will dominate culturally just from its head start and from the Library and NE culture.
The artist slots might be useful I suppose, although we do have slots from a library and obelisk, and presumably from a market later on.
It's a minor deal either way though.

Yeah, we only swapped to the ED theatre this turn. Last turn it was building the library.

As of T125 in the sandbox, the library has 30/90 completed into the library. I think it is better to finish that and skip the theater.
This picture is from earlier in the dotmap thread where we were trying to decide where to put certain national wonders. Building a market for a couple merchants will give us enough GP slots without the theater. Or, perhaps even a courthouse for a (gasp!) spy if we don't want to work the mine. In a perfect world with no other competing priorities, we'd want a courthouse anyway because the maintenance is decently high at large population. I'm not sure how close the sandbox is to the in-game state for maintenance, but looking at other screenshots from the live state game, maintenance is a decently high expense. Also, we can actually use the espionage points in this game.

No way, Eastern Dealers is sitting right on the border with the idiot CFC city. We absolutely want that theatre, and I plan to run 2 Artist specialists pretty much all the time as soon as we get the National Epic done. The full cultural push will have religion (1) + monument (1) + library (2) + theatre (3) + National Epic (4) + double Artists (4 + 4) = 19 culture per turn. We should be able to hit the 500 culture mark quickly and begin crushing that CFC city.
The specific Eastern Dealers micro hasn't been written yet, but it generally looks like this. Whipped theatre with overflow into library, build library for a few turns until we discover Metal Casting, then triple whip forge. We either finish the library right before getting Metal Casting, or the forge overflow easily finishes it and sets up a cascade into National Epic. Exact details to be worked out later, that's the general plan.

I can understand the desire to culturally crush CFC.
Wouldn't it be more efficient though to build the library now and do the theatre whip sometime after the forge whip?

From the Germans:
Quote:Greetings,
The inca scholars managed after years of precise calculation and agile planning to have the marble narrowly ready by turn 130 for you.
Please send these shiny thingies to us which you mentioned before.

Excellent news with the Germans. I'll log into the game and offer them our surplus gems and wines. Time to send the Germans a "thank you" message back, and an explanation message to WPC about what's going on.
It's more useful to whip Eastern Dealers for 2 pop right now, which starts the whip timer counting down (we have no whip unhappiness at present) and lets the city begin to regrow pop immediately. It also lets us start Globe Theatre in Starfall... which was the whole idea in the beginning. Geeze, if I'd known there was going to be so much discussion of every theatre build, I'd have just kept my mouth shut about Ditchdigger for another turn.
