Fine. You kindof deserve some lumps after moving the scout away at least. Missing a stack of 30 units from the most likely of paths from our #1 security risk is no small thing. I thought you'd take your well-deserved lumps more graciously.

Good luck.
oh crap - that came across as being petulant, didn't it? that's not what I meant, at all.
I really meant that this is likely to be not very much fun, is all. I'm happy to have you stay around - i really meant that I wouldn't be upset if you did leave to find a more interesting (ie, less likely to end up dead) player to lurk.
I have enjoyed having you here and I quite deserve "I told you so's". I mean - it's not quite like 35, where we weren't paying attention to power ratings - I've known for, I dunno, 30 turns that Jowy's power was going up...
And... my sincere apologies for not writing that more carefully.
And "not very much fun"??? I don't even know what you're talking about. We're going to kick Jowy's a$$!!! What could be more fun that that? You're talking to Hit Girl here! I've been waiting to boat Jowy's capital since like forever.

You're correct about that. It was Paper and Compass.

If we trade land for time, this doesn't need to happen.
I'm not as worried as I was at first. Jowy's attacking with a tech disadvantage and no industrial capacity advantage. He's burnt through all of his easy great people and his score is way below us and he has no defense against maces. Azza kicked Lewyn's butt pretty hard with home turf advantage despite a numbers and tech disadvantage. We'll need about 7-8 cats to cause him some hurt post battle of LALaw.

I want to advise against this. I do not think that we should signal weakness or desperacy to Cornflakes. Remember they're natural allies against us. When Jowy takes a city, Cornflakes will definately take notice but if our LBs drop Jowy's power enough that'll deter him.
That we drop out of top score contention may realign Commodore's and other's fate to ours. We have a chance to signal a steadfast ally (and competant militarist if Jowy's power drops from our LBs) with reduced threat to win. Who knows, we might still have a chance if the powers get into a tiff, or at least act as king maker. Also, Commodore's just as likely to act opportunistically against Jowy as Cornflakes is to act against us. Same for TT against Jowy. We are, at a minimum, allies of convenience once again.

Awesome. These are going to hurt Jowy bad.
Jowy's invested 1400 hammers in this attack. The defenses that you desribed amounted to about 450H to 600H. If he doesn't make it past LALaw, then he's the more likely to be sliced and diced by Commodore and us.
It's hard to see us keeping LA Law - he's got twice as many hitters as we will.
He'll probably lose all the cats and a bunch of the elephants. I think there's a fair chance we lose Magnum PI. After that, it completely depends on if Cornflakes piles on - if not, I don't think we'll lose NCIS easily and our core should be fine and, eventually, we'll take back anything he doesn't burn.
if Cornflakes piles on, that's completely different. We will see what happens.
We'll shut down research, of course, after we get Feudalism, and we'll whip the hell out of our cities..
Archers will not upgrade to longbows in queue. You can keep building them IIRC. I don't remember what obsoletes archers, though.
Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon
Units are obsoleted when you can build all the units that they can upgrade to (or one of their upgrades recursively). They will upgrade in queue to the last unit in the upgrade list (or one of its upgrades recusively) in the 'pedia.
no, once you can build LB and XBow, you can't build archers.
We will be able to build LB, though we are going to get our iron pillaged and won't get another hooked for 3 or 4 turns (I'm mining it)
Some pics in a few - short news is:
1) We will be able to upgrade 3 archers to LB, but probably not more - no one is willing to give money for tech right now.
2) TT researched Engineering, but won't trade it for Paper and Compass. My guess is that he'll do Feudalism and Compass, but I'm not sure.
3) Once we get feudalism, we'll turn off research and get enough to upgrade 2 archers a turn, I think.
We are going to lose LA Law - I don't see how we can hold it against 9 cats and 20 combat units. We can bloody him, though.
He did something weird, which was put a scout on the iron - all that did was give the mace an extra promo

If you do land Feudalism quick enough to mount an effective or at least painful defense of LALaw, you could consider offering Jowy peace. He may just march that stack over to TT rather than see it shreaded against protective longbows on a hill. Again, this is a heavy investment for him that he'll want a return on. Even bribe him with tech for peace.
But man i'm going to want to boat his capital in 15T if he does commit his troops against TT.
i'll give it a shot - what do you think? Feudalism? oddly, he switched to caste system, so he's not looking to slave more army out. I'll have feudalism, paper and compass.
