Turn 131
We have Literature, still not sure where to put the heroic epic. Moderate hammer city or high-hammer city? In with the globe or separate? I'm tempted by in with the globe as then stacking great generals gets you twice as many high-promotion units.
I lost the Parthenon to Hydra and Azza is on his way to Umoja - I wonder if Serdoa will use the 8 cats and 6 spears he has near Umoja on Azza's knights? He's two turns from Pikes, so if he wants to keep the great lighthouse he needs to do something...
And why has Hydra turned his stack back from the attack? WHY!
So do I get more failgold if I leave the Parthenon in the queue or do the hammers go into the mace?

I think you'll just get more hammers into overflow (so the mace). but it depends on what is processed first - MFG in barnet or a wonder by another civ - and im not 100% of tht.

I think they go into the mace and if you have nothing queueueued you will lose those hammers. However, I'm definitely not an expert here and also try to remember what I have read elsewhere.

So I've just wasted whatever hammers get rounded due to the bonii. Should have known...

Hammers go into mace. How do you lose hammers to rounding? It's the exact same as if you were building the mace.

Good point, for some reason i thought they were behaving like overflow when you complete a building without the exact multiple of bonus hammers. So actually it was a brilliant plan after all...
Anyway, I think I know what spooked Hydra - Azza and I made peace, so he's paranoid Azza is after him and moved back for zone defense. I can only hope he sees that Azza has gone after serdoa and goes back on the offensive.

really, what is the point of azza attacking serdoa if he's only going to raze cities? not like serdoa's still a player in this game at all.

Beats me. Perhaps he couldn't get anything other than knights in and didn't want them defending a juicy target, but what he has done is no better. Serdoa doesn't have engy so can't hit him at all... perhaps it just didn't fit the dotmap?
I should have mentioned that Azza was forting the tundra sw of his musket, so we may see a strong navy over here in 9 turns time...

Turn 132
Completing Meditation and the failgold from The Parthenon means I can now 1-turn Philosophy, then wait another two turns until I'm allowed to revolt. So actually I'll slowly research it so that my GNP doesn't go anywhere near the others. Graphs spoilered for being boring:
I'm hoping that I've built back up enough (look at that food!) that sparking a few golden ages will allow me to catch up to riffling by the time the others get there. I need research visibility on them both though so I'll run a turn of 20% espionage (at a cost of around 90 gold) to try to get that...
Azza hopes to take Umoja in three turns time - but didn't he realise that keeping Adrianople would have let him get there in two turns? I wonder if that helps Serdoa at all, given that he completes Engineering this turn!
In two turns I'll have a couple of galleys in place to carry maces to attack Mar Sara and Chau Sara a turn later. If Chau Sara is as lightly defended as Mar Sara I could take it on the second war-turn. I'll need to attack Mar Sara amphibiously on the first turn if Serdoa has the cash to upgrade the archer to a longbow or crossbow.
I currently have four builds to reduce costs, six military builds, five to improve the economy (hammer and commerce). I don't know if I should be emphasising one aspect more, my chances still rely on Azza and Hydra fighting, so perhaps I should stop building military. But Hydra has some knights floating around his territory that could cause my northern cities trouble, so a few more pikes won't hurt...

Turn 133
Welcome back. Today we have research visibility on Hydra, and it isn't good news. He's two turns from Rifling Even worse hes moving his stack nearer to my border. Nearer to Azza too, so keep your fingers crossed.
I can't work out what Azza is up to here. Maybe he doesn't really want the city? (He just moved north, rather than north west...)
So next turn I'll be attacking Serdoa. He has an archer behind 60% cultural defence in both cities, so I dunno if my double-mace galleys will do the job. I'll sim it and see if they need to land because of the amphibious penalty.
