Okay, I got out of work a little early and played the turn.
To start, we ended up with enough gold to upgrade 3 galleys to galleons. I could have accepted another 100g off Serdoa, but he had countered with an asking price of 15gpt for 100g. I tell ya, if there's one player that deserves the Regoarrarr award for haggling over every spare gold piece it's Serdoa.
But we got enough gold to upgrade 3 galleys to galleons. I ran 100% gold this turn and that will be enough to upgrade our remaining 3 galleys. So next turn we'll have the whole fleet upgraded. But will it be in time?
While Commodore didn't accept our gold offer (it looks like he's turned on research this turn too), he did gift us a boat:
This was enough to save our fishing nets, as the barb galley turned away at end of turn! Now, perhaps he has an armada of galleons he wants to come in and gift to us after.... but I wouldn't bet on it.
Also in the south, this happened:
Anybody else remember Arctic Circle? I remember them when I was a kid, but I don't see them around any more. I don't know if they even have those out east, but I figured it was an appropriate city name.
I need to point out something in the north:
That's a carrack. Also, slowcheetah has had a galley parked up there for several turns now. I don't know what it's doing, but it hasn't moved in quite a while. I don't know if he knows we've spotted it or not, but we should keep an eye on it just in case.
Okay, the main event:
I wasn't sure how to defend the south, but I don't know if we can. It looks like he is headed towards Five Guys instead of Starbucks with this arrangement. If slowcheetah rushes in, he will be able to do some damage. If he tries to slow play it then we should be able to defend.
The north isn't any different. He did move his three caravel stack by Starbucks south a bit, so I think he's really going after Five Guys or our south coast.
I started up Galleons everywhere. We live or die by the sea here.
