Sure, I'm not saying it's a bad idea. I'm just saying there is a logical third option for him.

Pin, you're an asset to the Realms. In every way.

Alright, Slowcheetah played and I had 10 minutes, so I popped in to see what he did. He went for Five Guys:
Good thing he did a 30 turn military buildup to capture the most useless city in our empire! Anyways yeah, that navy is super dead.
I haven't simmed it or anything, but I'm sure we can wipe out that stack no problem. As an added bonus, he moved his northern stack onto ocean, so it'll be defenseless and similarly easy to kill. Since you can't really tell in these pictures, Five Guys has like 8 Knights and a Musketeer in it. I'd be surprised if that's everything given 9 Galleons, so I guess that's probably half or so. Anyways they'll be stranded in there for quite some time, probably until he gives the city back as part of a peace deal after we've razed some of his coastal spots :P.
This is definitely the most positive I've ever felt after losing a city . Pindicator, we can do the turn now (either you before you leave for work or me at lunch time), or we can wait until later tonight. Your call. I don't think we need to discuss a ton unless this attack goes sideways, since it's just a matter of attacking fairly intelligently. I like the idea of using some Caravels first to soften most of his Galleons.

Final count for upcoming battle. We're 10XP from a GG, so we're definitely getting one this turn. Start thinking how we'd like to use it. Side note - I haven't looked at the odds, but considering all his attacks were amphibious, I think we were fairly unlucky there.
Our Navy:
15 Galleons
9 Caravels
Slow's Coastal Stack
9 Galleons
Slow's Ocean Stack
1 Galleon
4 Caravels
I'm seriously thinking we just slam all 9 Caravels into his stack of 9 Galleons. If we do that first and then attack wounded coastal stack and ocean stack exclusively with Galleons, we probably win this thing at the loss of 1-3 Galleons. Then we can freely destroy and fork his entire coast until we get what we want from him.
The downside of this is it would be nice to save a few for upgrades to Frigates, particularly some of the ones with promotions. Thoughts? I tend to think the priority here is winning with as many Galleons intact as possible.

Roughly 8-9 Knights and a Musketeer. I'm guessing he has about that many more units on board his Galleons, but I could be wrong.

More specifically, with 9 Galleons he had the ability to bring 27 units. We see about 10 in the city, plus about 3 more he attacked and won with (and therefore are on the boats), so that's about half what he could have brought. A reasonable choice would be 1-2 empty Galleons to defend with if necessary, so I wouldn't be surprised if he has about a dozen units we haven't seen yet. If all goes according to plan, they'll sink to the bottom of the ocean.

Wow, pikes suck at defending amphibious knights...
But yeah, I don't think I've ever been so happy to see that I've lost a city by civstats

We're still going to have to clean this up... I think a lot of pike whips are in our future; unless you can think of a better way to take 5 Guys back than zerging it?
Edit: I suppose we could try to flip it?

I'm not sure that's really true. I figure we can eventually force him to give it back to us as part of a peace deal? But those units on a 1 tile island when he has no navy to retrieve them - they might as well be dead.
edit: any thoughts on attack plan?
