I think we will have to time the request with a victory, conquering one or two of SC's cities, to give the appearance that this just isn't a lopsided affair (even if it really actually is). So if we can raze/take Orleans & Rheims in short order, that may be the time to do it. (May 16th, 2013, 14:01)pindicator Wrote: Um, i may have messed up our chemistry eta by quite a bit... To elaborate on this... 13 turns is in fact our ETA to Gunpowder. I mistakenly didn't select far enough over. Chemistry is another... 20 turns. We are screwed without help

Uh...did you really have to mass loaded galleons right next to Five Guys?

I didn't do that, blame the other guy And there are galleons everywhere, loaded and unloaded. I think SlowCheetah moved the musketeer from Orleans to Tours specifically because we have a bunch of unloaded galleons near that city.

Yes this crossed my mind as a possible issue, but the reality is we had so many Galleons scattered and stacked that it was pretty impossible for him to figure out which were filled and which were not, and what they were headed towards. Priority then was just getting every Galleon as far forward as possible. Slowcheetah is currently teching Chemistry. Well, he's on 0%, but we'll know pretty soon how long it will take him. Pindicator - we may need to seriously consider the double golden age idea. Anything to get us to Chem faster. I'd say we could scientist bulb Chemistry, but Education is in the way. I'm actually sort of afraid Slowcheetah might do it himself.
Okay, a friend from out of state is in town so I ended up getting dinner and playing chess instead of reporting. But we played to a draw, and now I've got the report together.
First off, Commodore is still profitting off of our loss: We'll look at the unit deployment first, and then talk about how we're going to try to get to Chemistry before we're dead. I started off by tearing up some fishing nets. Xenu has cleverly named his front row seat to all this drama: And I chained our units as discussed. Well, I did a little different, because I discovered there was an additional galleon inside of Starbucks than what I had originally planned with. So we were able to deploy units with a bit more flexibility for the next turn: So with how our troops our deployed, we have a lot of felxibility for next turn. If he moves out of Tours to reinofrce Orleans then we can try to just boat that city. We can also choose to boat Rheims instead of dropping off at Orleans. But with his galleons inside Orleans he is able to shuttle units directly into Rheims. If he does that we need to re-evaluate, I haven't thought up that really, but maybe we just unload everything at Orleans (or maybe it's worth it to triple fork Rheims-Orleans-Paris. I whipped four cities this turn, all of them were one-pop whips. Maximum efficiency that way, and we don't lose as much on the beaker count. Okay, now the crazy part (May 16th, 2013, 23:02)scooter Wrote: Pindicator - we may need to seriously consider the double golden age idea. Anything to get us to Chem faster. I'd say we could scientist bulb Chemistry, but Education is in the way. I'm actually sort of afraid Slowcheetah might do it himself. Absolutely agree. Artist bombing is out of the question now; we need to keep these artists around for Golden Ages. I think we also need to rethink capturing cities. We need to raid and raze, we're in it for the pillage gold to speed up our teching. Next, I tried something a little desperate for teching: I didn't look at anything we could sell, but if anybody isn't getting wine then we need to offer to sell it to them next turn. More ideas for raising gold and speeding up research: I think we risk caste system and hire all merchants here. Gold is a little better for us than scientists, but only barely. Still, getting better odds on a non-artist is all we care about, so we can run consecutive golden ages. I don't think we want to revolt to Vassalage yet. Bureaucracy is going to net us more beakers in gained commerce than Vassalage will save us in unit costs. And the third thing I think we should do.... Build Wealth. Everywhere we can get away with it. So if you notice, I'm advocating that we take all our current units to burn Slowcheetah cities; we take away our ability to turn food into production via the whip; and finally we spend what native production we do have on Building Wealth. I would say next turn we kick off the golden age and revolt to Caste. Maybe we only get awya with it for 5 turns, but while we're putting the pressure on SC, that should be able to buy us at least 5 turns before we need to whip again We probalby can't do 100% all of that, but everything we can to speed us along the better.
