Scooter, this is very much along the same lines I was thinking: delay the reply, distract with something, in this case the bulk exchange. I agree with this approach.

I think the marble thing is separatein-game thing than the gems-spices. And the trade was spices for marble, with a gems loan early to motivate them (which it did).
So it's basically cancel the gems+spice and re-offer just spice in-game. At least insofar as I see it. Actual message can follow later.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Just take the appropriate in-game actions and leave it at that. But if we want to pretend to be slow to read our messages, we can leave it in place for a couple of turns.
If you know what I mean.
We could just let the gems trade sit ... or reply (after a suitable delay as per Scooter) saying that we are having internal discussions about who to trade the spare gems to and can we just ignore it until we sort it out.
BTW... It is Gems+Spices To Germany as one trade and Marble from Germany as a separate trade
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Or we could wait a few turns, then say that we don't want to cancel the gems deal since it's offered with the spices and we don't want to screw them over, then let another week pass as the germans explain game mechanics to us.
I have to run.
I like the "pretend not to know game mechanics" plan.
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)
Hearthstone: ArenaDrafts Profile No longer playing Hearthstone.
The other option is that they trade gems to us. That would work.

Would they actually believe you, or would a sudden attack of obtuseness from the leading team in the game set off their Spidey-Sense?
Playing: PB11

Just stall for a few days. Who checks their email frequently anyway?
On the topic of intentional diplomatic delay, CFC also seems to be stalling. And after we broached the subject of NAPs no less. Perhaps a prod and politely worded request for response by a finite deadline might help things? (Yet another CFC discussion ) |
