Thanks, Qgqqqqq - though I do have to say playing this save all-day every day was a better job (naw, it's a great job, I'm thankful).

I was just reading someone's opponent analysis in another game, in which they rated Britain as okay-ish. I just wanted to comment that in this game, Britain would have been almost ideal for me. My early bank construction would have benefited a fair bit from the UB, while redcoats would have been the perfect UU to seal the victory, overcoming anything my opponents might tech to to try and stop me. Now, in retrospect, I wouldn't want to trade Expansive terraces for anything (even fast workers, to be honest), but if this had been a game with more restricted civ choices, I would truly have lucked out to have picked Britain. I hope to do so in the next restricted game I play in.

Looking forward to getting the save; this might be the last day I'll be able to play in a more relaxed manner for a while. Sadly it'll be a turn before I can attack de_nuke unless Azza evacuates it.

Hmm, sounds familiar... mischief

Was it you? I don't even remember now (been reading a lot of threads today).

Edit: Nope, you said something similar, but it was somewhere else.

Hey Noble, if you get a chance to respond to Old Harry's question tonight, could you let me know the verdict from everyone? I'd like to play tonight, but I won't know which save to open till I know the global lurkers' verdict. I have the save(s); just tell me "Scientist" or "Artist." I'm fine with "Scientist," by the way.

Play the Artist one.

Ok ... thanks for the quick reply.

Sorry guys, I wasn't able to take a ton of pictures for turn 150 like I'd hoped. Also my Golden Age ended with no more in sight, which has me bummed, as do all Azza's reinforcements, and all my unhappiness. frown Not the most fun turn. One bright spot: Old Harry appears to be moving to attack Azza, or something. I wish it were for real this time.

I think I played too late last night, which made me tired, which made me depressed. This turn was a lot more fun. I was able to take some pictures, including some inside my wonky war-weary cities, but they'll have to wait for another day to get posted. Highlights: Old Harry did indeed declare war on Azza, and I think I figured out why: he wants de_[city with MoM in it] to go along with his produce tons of Great People -> get massive Golden Age scheme. I suspect he's already demanded that city and maybe the other border one in exchange for peace. If not, he'll take it/them.

Azza attacked out of de_nuke against my stack, as I suspected, and failed to do serious damage, as I also suspected. I took the city after bombarding with catapults, experiencing moderate bad luck. I took a risk with my knights and moved them out exposed to be in position to attack his capital next turn if it remains weakly held (two catapults and a warrior - obviously it'll have at least a pike there as well next turn). I was able to advance my army rapidly over newly-decultured roads, as planned, and cs_italy is now cut off and mostly irrelevant, also as planned. In short, all is proceeding according to plan. That can always change, of course.

At home, I'm building jails (gotta use Constitution for something), popped another Scientist, and finished Military Tradition. Not sure what to research next; probably Chemistry -> Steel or Military Science if Old Harry gets Rifling in time (which Azza almost has, by the way; Old Harry's finishing Guilds). Yes, it looks like I'll have to attack Old Harry. To that end, I have directed new rifle reinforcements away from the front and toward Aquanauts (I hope that doesn't come back to bite me). 3rd Army Group is assembling; it'll be a while before it's ready since I'll need to build siege, but there you have it. Plan Marlborough is under way.
