We're about out of caravels, actually. There are two with the northern galleons.... and I think that's it. We could make some more, but we've been making land units lately.

Scooter, I thought we agreed we wouldn't deploy the server bomb until it looked like all hope was lost

Show is on the road!
And we decided to tweak the plan a little.... First, up north since we were only moving 1 tile forward I used some extra movement to scout ahead and see what was nearby: Our boats all ended turn on the blue square. But it looks like Slowcheetah is trying to block the straights and play defense. Except we can just go around. Although this does buy him time. Note that the knight appears to have been just unloaded, making me think that there are no units on these northern galleons of his. The south: We didn't raze the city; instead we landed troops, attempting to minimize casualties. And if he chooses to move his galleons back and unload units to save Rheims, then we're okay with that too. I joked to scooter that the main army may end up walking to Paris, but that may not be so far fetched...

Scooter, where are you!???
We need to think about this: I'm leaning towards no and trying to get a few more turns out of him, then ask for peace. We want that 10 turn window of enforced peace to be what we use to get to Chemistry ourselves. And right now I think we'd be a few turns shy of Chemistry if we took the peace deal now. I'll be on for about 30 min, then I'm off to my run club

Hah, immediate lurker comment in the lurker thread. If that isn't confirmation that it's indeed trouble I don't know what is.
Anyways that Galleon doesn't really matter that much, we can easily cover that. It could theoretically boat two of our cities as soon as next turn, but we can cover them. I've known it was around as we have a lot of coastal visibility due to religious/culture vision or something, so I've been poking around with that Caravel ever since Pindicator veto'd my 3 Galleon Commodore sentry net. I'm more curious if he has other boats in the vicinity. Razing one of our cities doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Playing for keeps sure does when you're talking about a 30gpt shrine and a still-valuable wonder makes a little more sense though, so I'm wary. Stuff will be shuffled accordingly - good thing we still have an absurd amount of boats. Anyways, Pindicator logged out before I caught him, so we couldn't accept the peace deal. So we're going to play the turn like usual. Turn report in a bit.
Alright! So, turn. You saw the Commodore Galleon. I'll get to that in a minute. First off, we had a city to capture:
Kept because HAHA SUCK IT FRANCE. We had to abandon piling our units into northern boats because slowcheetah was covering the pass. However, there's only 3 of them and they're... Why yes, unpromoted. Nearly all of ours are promoted. Yep, those are gonna sink. Quote:c1 caravel vs galleon: 22% lose (1.3h) BAM. Sacrifice 2 Caravels for 3 Galleons. So we'll now have 3 C2 Galleons up there which is pretty cool. And as usual, Xenu gets front row seat to watch. He's very clearly enjoying himself by spreading scouting units all over the place here to watch our attack. We moved our southern Galleons up to pick up our army, and hey there's his stack! That's ok. It's not on boats so it's not a threat for us. THis combined with his choice to NOT move his Galleon stack suggests he's more concerned with defense than offense right now, which makes peace pretty likely here if we want it. I did offer it: We'll see. Anyways, while I was in-game, Commodore logs in. I started to watch his Galleon. He did load it, and moved it north. Here's a shot of the region: His 6 move galleon is way up there. One note: he only moved it 5 tiles. So it's technically possible for him to move 1E later this turn and then boat Jamba Juice next turn. I don't know why he'd waste time doing that, but just noting it. Anyways, it doesn't mean much. He knew I was watching him. He then requested diplo window. I accepted, he then closed after a few seconds. Then I discovered why he was checking: Yes we did . So I started a settler in Starbucks: We could have started a 2T settler in Dominos, but the travel time makes it more or less a wash. Anyways, the goal here is to get peace with slow and then use this settler to settle the horse island. We figure that gives us some disposable cities in case he just comes at us in 10T time. Anyways, that's more or less a wrap. Turn not yet ended since Pindicator left halfway through the turn. So we really have no clue if Commodore is actually gonna screw with us or not, but we're taking no chances - I moved things back in that direction as best as I can. I see no sign of extra Galleons, so we may be totally fine. We need to watch closely. He did end turn and leave while I was still in, but we want to check what he did if he logs back in again.
Can we try to get updated maps from people?

Also, best line: (May 22nd, 2013, 21:31)scooter Wrote: Kept because HAHA SUCK IT FRANCE. So napkin math says we can have Chemistry in ~12 turns at the current rate. And without a war we may be able to drop that lower as we grow cities onto 2f4c coast. There's also a small potential for something really bad to happen next turn, but I think the odds are pretty long that Slowcheetah moves that way. Ideally he takes the peace treaty anyway
