[LURKER THREAD] WW24: Whispers of the Dead

Maybe scum ought to have worked harder to build some mislynch wagons after seeing how Serdoa was ambushed. Fading into the background instead, allowing the votes to stay spread out, didn't work too well.

Everybody's definitely playing even if they're not online at the deadline. You have to lay the groundwork for the final lynch votes, whether you're town or scum. I haven't minded deadlines in the middle of my night in the games where we've had that.
I have to run.

I couldn't be on this game deadlines, but I think I contributed to the Slowcheetah lynch (heck, I am dead already, but I don't think it changes my point).

I'd say mattimeo or Brick, yes.

I think a simple majority lynch rule would be very favorable to scum. It would force dogpiles long before deadline and so put scum under much less pressure.

Edit: I think what was ment by "majority lynch" was that there is a deadline. If a majority is not reached by the deadline there is no lynch.

I'm honestly torn on that topic. I can say that it isn't fun at all when you get lynched just by pure randomness. But I do see the argument (and used it myself) that I should have worked harder to build a case that others would follow, even though in practice that can get very hard to simply impossible on D2. Also, at least in my case, even having a rule on just 2-3 times per hour being allowed to switch wouldn't have changed anything.

I could see the possibility to include majority-lynches, though it would mean that villagers would have to be much more careful in the later stages of the game. Also some sort of time-limit probably would have to be included, especially for votes in general. Otherwise some players might just decide to never vote at all. Also, having a one week long day probably will lead to some players simply not reading along any longer.

Still, I'd be happy to find a solution to get rid of those extremely annoying random shots from 2-3 players. Because quite honestly, I'm fine to lose, but I'd like to have the feeling that I didn't do that just because someone rolled a dice.

You're certainly right there, I'll try and keep back in mind for my next inevitable roll of scum. I think I have a 75% rate of rolling scum in these games, and ironically the only game where I didn't was Tasunke's game where EVERYONE was scum.

And...that changes what?

I really don't mind the late switches. We don't actually do them as often as you think and when you have nothing they can be a useful tool to shake the tree. And they hurt village as often as they help it.

And being around at the deadline matters, but like novice said, just because you can't be there to affect the lynch doesn't mean you didn't affect it earlier in the day.

I really think for the most part our current setup works as well as can be expected.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
