Clearly you haven't read "Surely you're Joking, Mr. Feynman!"

Btw Pindicator, do you approach random women on the street and say "Hey, I will buy you a $47 dinner, OK?" neenerneener

lol

Edit: I feel bad about spamming up this thread, so I'll add my draft to CivFr here in spoiler tags.

Dear CivFr, sorry to hear about your falling out with CFC. You can run a trade mission to us anytime you like. Our capital is really big and would be happy for your merchant to conduct its business there.

Also, how about get some Open Borders going? You have two nice and large cities that would give us excellent trade routes. In exchange we will pay you 100g.

I think we should post that to the public banter thread over at CFC, with the caption: "The current state of team Realms Beyond."
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

I know it's straying off topic, but the last dozen or so posts in this thread have been extremely funny lol. Thanks.

We'll very likely go with the most recent novice edit, I think that's about right. If nothing unusual comes up, I'll send it before the end of the night.

Surely we still want to ask "How much would be useful?"

Draft to CivFr Wrote:Wow, that sounds like a very dirty trick by CFC. I'm sorry to hear that - they have been very difficult to us too. We are currently bound to a NAP with CFC until T175, and we are in the middle of our own war anyway as you might have seen.

However, we talked about it as a team and we'd be happy to help you guys out somehow. We are finishing Engineering at the end of T152 and really don't want to delay that, but after that we can spare some gold if it would help you in your conflict with CFC. We're making about X gold per turn at max tax. How much would be useful?

Also, you can run the trade mission in one of our cities if you'd like. Unlike some, we are an honest team, so if you can make it that far we will not give you any trouble. Maybe we can work together in the future - it seems to me that we may have common enemies. We do have full maps on CFC, so if you want, we could also exchange maps with you.

Thanks,

So we might end up losing some gold, but the potential gains are huge. And to re-repeat again for the third time, our reply does not bind us into anything. We can see how CivFr responds and go from there.

+1000

If we're going to throw conditions on every little thing we may as well tell CivFr to f-off now and save ourselves the trouble.

I agree completely. The risk of a gold gift being a waste is real, but very small compared to the reward. This is NOT the time to be stingy, we desperately need an ally with some real might.

Yeah I think this calls for a "top ten funniest replies" competition.

I think your analogy fails, because in your scenario you don't mind getting dogpiled.

Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

I also hope we're putting in a real number instead of that X gold per turn. lol
