1) Who cares about healing, the point is to capture/burn cities, this let's us do it the quickest.
2) This forces them into making decisions immediately. They may elect to empty a city, shuffle defenses, or who knows what. Forcing them into making a decision is a good outcome.
3) We aren't risking anything. We aren't losing that medic next turn because we have maces covering it. The only thing we're missing out on is a turn of healing. We don't even HAVE to attack next turn, we can still wait til then to make the decision.
Cons:
1) It may be smarter for us to burn the northwest city in 2T rather than next turn anyway (since we need to wait for a settler to replace), so why not heal for a turn why we wait
2) The above pros may have no actual impact on where they place their units, so why are we bothering?
This is all true, except that the word 'lets' in Pros #1 should not have an apostrophe.

This is the punishment for all future displays of pedantry.

Alright, it looked as though there was a slight preference in this thread for moving the mounted units forward against the Germans. While I'm not a huge fan of this decision, it's certainly justifiable, so I moved them into position:
We'll see how the Germans react to this with their longbow next turn. Now with regards to Gourmet Menu:
I very strongly advise against doing this grocer whip. It's a 3 pop whip at the moment, but if we wait a single more turn before whipping, we pass 60 production invested and the whip will go down to 2 pop (whip with forge + Organized Religion = 45 production per pop point). Gourmet Menu is a highly developed city, where we want to minimize the amount of pop spent on whips. I have not whipped here, and I think that we should not do so this turn. Next turn looks a lot better.
We didn't have much discussion on Let It Snow, so I looked at this and went with what I thought was best. We should be able to get a city on the offshore island significantly faster by going settler before draft in Let It Snow, and bringing down a drafted mace from the Globe city to guard it. We can swap to a settler in Let It Snow next turn, triple whip it the following turn (T156), and the net result will have us loading the galley with a settler T158 and a mace T159. I could not do faster than that. I've also slightly shifted the tiles at Let It Snow this turn so that it will be at 25/26 food after triple whipping a settler.
A missionary instead of a pike in Focal Point sounded like a good suggestion, since we have a lot of military and need more economy. This also seemed to be what most people wanted. I made this change.
In case anyone missed it, the Spanish were killed by CFC this turn. We'll see if the CFC vs CivFr war continues on, CivFr did take a former Spanish city off of CFC earlier this turn. And they are trading units with one another, so this is not likely to be a phony diplomatic war. Seems to be a real squabble over the Spanish spoils. Anyway, here are the Demos post-Spanish:
I would like to end turn soonish so that we can get to the next turn more quickly. Will still allow more time for discussion.
On the subject of nitpicking: thinking critically about what the team is doing is obviously a good thing. We want to be able to discuss different options and try to pick the best choices. That said, some of the posts in this thread seem to be delighting in finding the most trivial subjects possible to critique and pick apart. That's not healthy for a team environment, and it's not something that we should be encouraging. It's counterproductive to focus excessively on minutiae - we want to concentrate on things that matter. Please try to keep the commentary on topic.

Sure, let's wait a turn on the grocer whip.

Huh. Apparently CFC didn't lose a single unit taking out the Spanish capital.

What did we do with our northern chariot?
How well defended is the city that had the wounded knight and the medic chariot? Does it now only have an injured chariot in it? One of our drafted maces should go in there soon-ish.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
