*shrug* I'd post my opinion but Boldly would obviously take offence. Either way I'm PMing T-hawk to sort it out because influencing a game is a fairly serious offence on RB (IMO, anyway...oh shit).
[SPOILERS] Lurkerloos and map discussion
|
I'm really not inclined to play policeman here. Lurkers can express an opinion in favor of players going to war, as long as it's not conveying spoiler information. As for a small civ tilting the balance between bigger players, that's a natural part of the game, if Xenu is willing and able to go kingmaking, or just wants to entertain himself with war, then that's his business.

Which is not possible as a Lurker has spoiler information and a player will take that into account. You and I both know that there have been cases where an 'innocent' question triggered a player-reaction that altered the game. Of course it is. If Xenu decides for himself without the influence of global Lurkers- No problem.
In this particular instance, it seems likely that Commodore wears ScooPin down before Xenu is able to jump in, though. So hopefully it doesn't matter.

Is the assumption here that I'm thin-skinned and totally unreasonable, that I would just take the opposite side to your opinion automatically (despite the fact that my opinion has already been stated), or that your opinion is offensive? I'm trying not to get personal here, but come on. I disagreed with you on a single issue that was decided months ago and had the temerity to call you on something that I think is a load of crap. I also didn't respond in kind when Rowain used charged language (lurkers destroying PB8? ) describing what has been confirmed as acceptable lurker behavior by a respected member of our community. Though now that I have mentioned it, and thus responded, have I succumbed to trolling? Somewhere on the interwebz, an angel has received it's wings...
It's fairly simple to explain if I use a counter example.
Is it OK for me to have gone into Commodores thread and said that I think him attacking the Zulu is a bad idea? Is it OK for me to go into Plako's thread and say that I think he should attack someone? It's not. Nor is what you are doing. (June 25th, 2013, 12:29)Krill Wrote: It's fairly simple to explain if I use a counter example. Please tell me where anyone has done such a thing. Lurkers say fight/blood. They do not say whether it is a good idea. No one has given Xenu any analysis/advice on whether what he himself proposed (unsolicited) is a good idea or not. There has been friendly banter back and forth, nothing more. What are you guys looking at? Go to Plako's thread and tell him to attack someone. Do it in a playful way. But, there is a difference. Xenu is in last place and is setting his own small goals to keep himself entertained. Plako is winning, and playing to win. Minor lurker interference in Xenu's little sandbox will have orders of magnitude less impact on the game than minor lurker interference in Plako's game. The last thing I hopefully have to say on this is this: The people calling for blood in Xenu's thread know him well enough to know he isn't listening to us, he's just having some fun and getting some thread posts/views. There is either a whole lot of ill will involved here, outright trolling, or a complete absence of trust regarding me, Brick, Ceil, and whoever else is egging Xenu on in his thread. Go back and read the posts (starting here briefly, then here in earnest). It's all in good fun. Nothing more to say about this. How about a little more trust in our community? No one is out to wreck Plako's game.
About the concede change, I really don'tthink Bigwyn would be able to pull out a CV this time around. Everyone has made a notice about that they're going for it, it's no secret and shouldn't be too hard to stop i would think.

Who has to be the one to stop it? If it is anyone but Plako, Plako wins. If it is Plako, does it slow him down enough to make a difference? In that scenario, Serdoa seems best positioned, but he is the one calling for the concession. This puts bigger/lew in a kind of tough spot, but I think even they know the likelihood of them winning is not that great. |
