It mainly has to do with how much more difficult it is to attack than defend. Your stack will get hit by cat's for collateral, and then just get cleaned up. This is why the SOD is not all that powerful.

Fortunately, Harry has decided to harass Hydra for a bit, so I might be able to recover enough to mount a serious resistance. Or even possibly sneak some rifles into Hydra territory and raze an important city (but that probably needs Astro).

Captured cities cannot flip back to their original owners unless a special game option is chosen.

I haven't looked at the set up options for a Civ 4 game in so long, but I thought that was a setting that had to be activated to turn if off, rather than one that had to be activated to turn it on?

Either way, it's a moot point now since Harry gave it up as soon as I caused a revolt.

Serdoa continues to retreat, so I claimed cs_compound, Great Lighthouse included. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to hold it unless Harry or Hydra interfere.

As you can tell, I'm not impressed by Hydra's resettling of what was my land. But I've offered him peace to try and consolidate my Serdoa gains, and hopefully finish him off.




Lost 3 Rifles for 5 catapults, a maceman and 2 muskets. I think I came out ahead here, with more units trickling in to pillage if possible. Either he attacks out and makes it easy for me, or he has a useless city. Unless Harry and Hydra enter a fight to the death it doesn't affect my (non-existent) chances of winning, plus if I do take it it'll be a production city so mature cottages are unnecessary.

Ok, maybe not. Turns out Serdoa has roughly 1 billion outdated military units in his cities. This is the 3rd different city I've seen stacked with a ton of outdated units.
