RBP8 IT and Tech Issues Thread

im not pissed at your team Scooter, nor with slowcheetah or Plako either. im mostly just upset with commodore and serdoa. Commodore, for the diplo way he handled this. And Serdoa for bringing it up publicly in the first place, and for giving up when he had a very real shot at winning himself. In fact, I'll just say this: if Serdoa were to give me his password, and the game would continue, I'm pretty confident I could win from his position, too. of course that would be a space race victory, which would take a lot longer than my plan.

Maybe we could find some way to play this through as a duel. Other nations could be either dummies pushing enter or AI with restrictions how they could be exploited. Also I can say that with direct beeline Bombers are under 30T away.

I don't see that we have a choice. Another option is for other players to use the pause break to find a replacement from the pb11 player pool. I think it would be a great opportunity for a green player to manage an advanced empire, late game, in a MP environment. but whatever works.

Oh, and if it is because I am away for a week: I am sorry. I didn't plan it that way and I would have happily played on while gone. But either you want me to take this game seriously, than I have to ask for a pause because otherwise I don't do that and can't do the game justice, or you just want me to hit Enter, and in that case I really don't see the sense in this game because it becomes a farce. I mean I can't change how the others play (and I don't want to) but I either play for real or I don't play at all.

ok, im going to say this again:

I am NOT conceding. if this game ends now, Plako will not in any way be the victor. Fuck a moral victory, I'm going to win this. I don't care if everyone else is bored with the game. I sacrificed a lot to win this game - including not signing up for other games that would overwhelm me. after 9 grueling months I am within 30-40 turns of pulling off what I have been preparing for a long time, especially not when im literally 15 turns away from knowing if I have a 0% chance or a 50%+ chance. 9 fucking months I've plugged away, including many frustrating situations, and im less than a month away and you pull the plug? fuck that.

I don't think you guys have a firm grasp at all about how far away I am. I don't think you have a firm grasp on Plako's situation either. I've played enough single player with this version of rb mod (no tech trading) to know he is a LONG WAY from Tanks or bombers.

Honestly, I'm really fucking pissed right now, and I probably won't ever play a PB here again (at least not w/ serdoa or commodore).

I'm not sure what exactly I have done tbh. I mean if you don't want to play a game with me again, that's your choice, but I have the nagging feeling that this is not for anything I've done but for something you believe I should do that I didn't without you knowing my situation in game well enough to judge it (but I made several posts on it, explaining it, so that hopefully can be rectified).

If you are pissed because I asked for concession I'd like to point out the following: I made every effort I possibly could to not spoil anything when I stated that I would like to concede to plako. I did never try to force anyone else to concede. I know you were asked to do so by others, but I hardly see how I am responsible for that. I also played on after it was clear that we would not concede and have never asked since to do so. I even did play as optimally as possible for the time I had available, maybe with the exception of my last war, but that was me having a brainfart, not me being intentionally playing badly.

So, really, I don't get what I did to you. As I said, if it is for some action you expected me to take ingame, we can talk about this after the game. But if it is because I asked for concession, I really don't see me at fault.

ok, maybe im a bit hard on you. I do feel like when it is clear someone other than the leader is trying to win, concession talks should be taken via private channels. I really feel like you should have brought it up in your lurker thread, or pm'd Krill, who could have came to me or anyone else he thought might want to keep playing. But I shouldnt beat you up for that.

In game, Im annoyed that you stopped trying to win. you are in a very strong position. and frankly, at least as strong as Plako. Before that post, Im sure Plako thought of you as a threat. *I* considered you a greater threat than Plako. once you publicly concede, its clear to him I am the only threat, and my chances go down greatly. His actions towards us in the last 10 turns have been much more aggressive, and I don't think thats a coincidence.

Ok, so you are pissed because everyone else considers your position unwinnable but you don't and you expect anyone to accept that, but you yourself don't accept that I do not see my position as winnable? I think you should give me the same courtesy you expect yourself from everyone else.

My only annoyance with the pause is that it encouraged other to quit. But thats not your fault. I personally don't mind a small break.

I'll just say it here, I've posted a plan in the lurker thread about how to handle concessions in the future. I intend to bring it up during set up for the next game so we can stop this potential issue from occurring again.

Honestly, as long as this game goes on I won't comment on that, because it is effectively conducting diplo. I don't care how anyone else handles this, but I am still playing seriously. Yes, I do believe that plako will win. But that does not mean that I have given up. Oh yeah, I have asked if we concede. And after it was decided we do not, I played on. I didn't just hit end turn, I thought about what I was doing.

I can agree with the concession-thing: To be honest, I simply never thought about asking Krill or someone else as in all games I played we made it publicly (though those were PBEMs).

ok, thank you Serdoa. I responded out of anger after seeing commodore post in my spoiler thread, I apologize.
Anyway, if everyone is right about me not having a chance, I'll know it in 15-20 turns, im not asking for the game to continue for months more.

if scooter, commodore, or xenu don't want to play, I bet you could find a green sub that would enjoy playing an empire late in the game w/o any pressure to win.
