I'm totally ready to start spamming "Death to CFC" all over the place.

How did this whole CFC thing start anyway? I mean, I know Sommer and 2metra didn't win any hearts and minds when they came over and started a thread where they ripped our site. But was that all that it was? And how did they get their impression to even act like they did? Or is there something earlier?
Regardless, it's gotten a life of it's own since then, that's for certain... Welcome Back, Sulllla! We didn't burn down the house, but there's a little bit of a mess from all our parties

Go read the game setup thread on CFC. Or rather, don't. Sommerswerd enjoys arguing dishonestly, and 2metra spent a lot of posts being passive-aggressive. Both argued for some pretty dumb settings, like allowing the civic swap mission. And IIRC both of them (at least Sommerswerd) would constantly use winking smilies, which combined with their illogical arguments was infuriating.
From what I've seen, it started with that and the rules discussion at the very start of the game. As they say, first impressions count. After that, we were predisposed to view anything CFC did in the worst possible light - hence all the jabs at Sommer every time CFC did anything nitpicky with regards to the rules or agreements. It might have simmered and died out at that, but their insulting diplo following their excellent Civ play for the Taj dropped their image into the gutter for anybody who was starting to forget.
A perfect example is when there was that pause a little while back and a lot of people (including myself =[ ) assumed it was to get more diplo time with CivFr before the next turn. In retrospect, there's no way we could have known that one way or another, and so assigning a bad motive to their actions was biased and unfair.
Moreover, 2Metraninja keeps on being aggressive to RB in the Admin/Tech threads, which is irritating to people - and because we are (wisely) avoiding engaging with them there, a lot of steam is let off in the private forum.

Nobody has spoken up yet, and I think that if we are fine with it (seems like we are), it would be a nice gesture towards keeping the game running smoothly if we spoke up in favor sooner rather than later. |
