Yes, we should do that.
Oh and we also hate CFC for making plako quit.

To reiterate previous posts, I think if we have an opportunity to preemptively attack CFC, we should do both that and set up naval blockades of their coastal cities. This will to reduce their production capabilities in the west and they will have to move more units from the east.
We can then Sirian those coastal cities when we have the ability to do it. I suppose we could put down 3 forts so we can move our boats around the strait.
Also, who got circumnavigation?

Not sure what you mean about the forts. You can't have a three-fort wide canal because the middle fort will not be traversible, if that's what you mean.

Don't imagine for even a second that there will be a single archer in that city T175.
See, this is awkward because two incredibly valuable cities are vulnerable on the same turn. Yet at the same time, I'm not sure how much CFC will commit to this war, they're currently digesting the Zulu lands and trying to get a safe peace/border deal with CivFR. So I'd expect and respond to opportunism. And they might wait for another tier of military tech before going for us.

I would never expect a single archer to be the garrison at that point. But, if it's a modest garrison of only a few units (I'm not even sure what that would look like) and we felt we could spare a handful of 2-movers, we could attack out of the fog from across the river somewhere north of the peak tile (around 4NE of the idiot city) by having a couple of workers on hand to build roads to get us to the border.
Having said that, they'll either garrison against this, or have a spy on sentry duty when the war turns are imminent to foil any attempt we might make. If we can spare some troops, though, I'd like to give us an alpha option just in case they're careless early in the turn where we could strike early on the timer before they're in place. Just keeping options open/pipe dreaming here.
Edit: While I'm dreaming, what is the likelihood that we could get a spy in position in that city in time to get a discount on a possible city revolt mission to drop cultural defenses? We could run the espionage slider to get some extra EPs against CFC at the end of our last NAP turn and then strike quickly early in the first non-treaty turn.

We need to be careful about saying open borders need. Not everyone knows about island cities and with wars coming it might be better to keep it that way as long as possible...

Oh, that doesn't work? That's too bad
I wonder if it would be possible if war broke out after Galleons, whether or not we could let CFC wander into our territory and then level the city so all their one movers are trapped in our culture? Though that sort of strategy probably isn't effective in Civ4 I guess.
@BGN - it would be nice to get a spy out there.

So, I was going to draft something for CivFr and/or UCiv but... what do we even want to say? They never respond to proposals, they won't make any deals with us... Does anyone actually have any ideas other than "just send them something"...?

CivFr: How's the war with CFC going? Anything we can do to help? Glad we could get you guys your ivory back.
UCiv: We noticed that Apolyton has started drafting Rifles. How can we work together so that we both feel a little safer?
