SW-SW looks like a mountain, I suppose SW-W wouldn't be bad as there is an lake tile to see across.

I'm not seeing a mountain at 2SW. I see a possible mountain west of it though.

Not sure about a mountain, but I jumped back in the game to double check and there is definitely a body of water S of that rice tile.

Yeah, that's not 2SW. 2SW is west of the water tile.

Sounds like it's "SW first, then see what the lake tile shows us".

Well well. I agreed with Cyneheard that we were obviously in a "move SW and then see" so I did:
Well that's a significant reveal. That's JesterNakor right there. So on one hand, our neighbor is Wang Kon of Rome which is a pretty amazing combination AND has a bit of a grudge from when we roflstomped them last game. On the other hand... if I'm going to want a neighbor that is ideal for conquering - surely these guys would have been fairly high up on the list right? So overall I tend to think this is pretty positive. Am I crazy? So I needed to decide where to move next. I decided I wanted to check and see for sure if this land wedge ends here, so I went SW:
I think we move onto the plains forest hill next turn. Anyway, their lack of tech so far means they're probably teching BW first. So kids, here is the land between us:
Let's make sure we get most of it considering that land north of us looks brown and crappy. Working the fish now in our capital:
Yum.

New map theory: our neighbors are JesterNakor, Lewwyn/Bigger, and (of course) Commodore

Yeah, I was looking forward to not being attacked before turn 100 in a game. Being neighbors with Rome ... well, we'll see.
It does suck that all that good land is close to them and a stretch for us.
