That seems like a sign that we should be doing pure units, and stacking whip anger, as many rounds as it takes to clear out the invaders. Use the drama slider for happiness, if necessary. Because there's no point building infrastructure for coyotes that we can't defend.
One possible upside: if we take down civ players army first, we'll get a bunch of promotions, and probably a GG that could give xp to a stack, so we could have quite a few pinch muskets to take down Apolytons rifles.

Did we kill that Bard city? We also need to reinforce island cities...They give us a lot of money...

The barb city hasn't been attacked yet, but I'm sure Noble will attack it when he completes the turn. For the island cities, we have exactly one galley down there, and precious few troops to spare, so not sure how to make that work.

Yes, it's wrong. The first mounted unit that can flank cannons is the Cuirasser.
