Apologies for the stopped reporting. I
a) Got kinda busy, and had to cut down on some civ time.
b) Have lost quite a lot of interest in this game due to the stupidly slow pace (mostly kyan's fault, I should not have played a game with him, I should have known that).
c) Have lost some interest in the game as I believe lacking horses is deadly on this kind of map. And currently it seems I'm shut out of horses as Ichabod has settled a city blocking me from them. Currently I am teching construction and hope to wrest control of the horses before it's too late, but I'm not optimistic. Silver lining is that the city in question is closer to me than to him.
Anyway, as mentioned I'm working on construction, still expanding some, and also building up a defensive stack of spears and archers for my city near Krill, since he's researched HBR and has been upping his power a lot while languishing in score. I don't want to go crazy with these units because they can't go on the offensive well, but I much prefer him to attack someone else and I think it's worth ensuring that. Currently I am 2nd in power. Pace is slow, map is cramped and unfair, and that's about it. Oh and Thoth is doing really well.

To be clear, if the save were still moving reasonably, point c would just be an interesting challenge. But in this case I'm already not caring about the game much because of the pace, so it's irritating that I couldn't get access to HAs so I can participate properly in what I expect to be a premature mess.

Sounds like a good reason to get back into the demogame .

1. Ichabod
Smart guy who apparently feels overmatched in this game. My impression, mostly from 45 vets, is that he tends to focus too much on specific goals and not enough on overall quality of development. Prediction: Ichabod will be first to lose a city.
I don't know if anyone lost a city already. But apparently Serdoa had plans in the works to raze one of Ichabod's, so this may well have come true. B+
Quote:2. Thoth
I don't really know how skilled a player he is. I think I watched one game with him. It was FFH and he crushed everyone. Prediction: Thoth will start the most exciting war of the game.
I don't think the game lasted long enough to have any sort of exciting war. But all we need is for Thoth to have started the MOST exciting one. I don't know, does anyone have an opinion on this? I wouldn't consider myself to have participated in any wars. C-
Quote:3. Seven
Seven is pretty awesome at this game, not to mention quite handsome, but needs to work on when and where to plant cities, and stop assuming worst case scenarios for what his opponents are doing. Prediction: All of Seven's pre-game predictions will turn out to be wrong.
This prediction was paradoxical at best. W
Quote:4. Serdoa
Serdoa has an unusual but effective approach to micro, which gives him a sort of mysterious foreign allure. I think he builds too many mines. Prediction: Serdoa will be eliminated first. Don't ask me why - is a bold prediction not enough for you?
The game ended with all players still alive. According to me, that means we were all eliminated simultaneously in a 6-way tie. C+
Quote:5. Kyan
Kyan is a great player but gets bored easily. Prediction: Kyan will bail on the game, leaving Q*** in charge.
The only question is, why did I play the game after making this prediction? A+
Quote:6. Krill
Krill is playing a normal BTS PBEM?!? Krill who is really smart and experienced but seems generally uninterested in playing against RB's other top players? Prediction: Krill's thread will have the most useful, interesting, and new (to readers) strategic information of any thread in this game.
Nope. It was good information, but Krill posted most of his reports on his blog. Massive prediction failure. D

I'm a smart guy alright. I need to defend my cities better, though.

your last turn report was terrible. I need you to redo it - but this time, with thought bubbles from worker, warrior, and scout. I'm more interested in their opinion of the game than yours anyway.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Actually your Ichabod bet was wrong: I was about to raze an undefended city from Kyan with a HA and axe on a galley.
Still need to read this thread fully but I like the reporting style Seven. Still, it seems a little...dissociative.

Suck it, Seven.
