Buuuut they did hang 59 points yesterday so I can't complain today.

I remember that one, they lost to these guys. Any embarrasment sustained by Michigan that day was surpassed when the linked video made the rounds.

I can't believe I'm actually going to post this, but I think I can top that Ceil. I had brunch with another OSU grad today and we were trying to convince ourselves that this was just an awesome parody of college sports marketing (and in particular U of Oregon). If this had been parody and more over-the-top, it would have been awesome. Instead it's just another point of embarassment.

Turn 051

Power Rankings tomorrow. Tonight I wrote out the plan, finally.

[Image: pb13%20-%20turn051%20-%20where%20we%20are.JPG]

Here is where we are now. Our newest worker, Steve Yzerman, has moved SW-SW and put a turn of chopping into forest. The archer, the warrior, and our settler have all joined in. It's probably the safest tile in our empire with our only 2 military on it, so I bunched everything up.

Commodore isn't even offering peace. He should stick to duels.

Something that worries me is that he did beat us to a 2nd city by a fair amount. But he still only has 2 cities. Is he going to settle up on us again? Although there really isn't any place to settle up on us in this game; the land between us is bad. And if he tries to settle near the horse we will chop out axes for no end.

Assuming he plays (relatively) nice, we'll be doing this Stonehenge plan with our workers:

Turn 52
Found city. Work the unimproved wheat.
Size 1. 2/22 food. Stonehenge: 2/120

Turn 53
Wheat is improved this turn. Work the wheat tile.
Size 1. 7/22 food. Stonehenge: 4/120

Turn 54
Edit: Change from picture. CD & SY move to stone. TP roads wheat for this one turn.
Workers move as indicated above. Continue working wheat.
Size 1. 12/22 food. Stonehenge: 6/120

[Image: pb13%20-%20turn051%20-%20t55to57plan.jpg]

Turn 55
After creating the images I realized that TP should put a turn of road in on turn 55 instead of moving straight to the forest. Or he can move to the forest and put a turn of road there. But this way both forest chops complete on the same turn, reducing the risk that we chop a forest into Stonehenge only to see it turned into money.
Size 1. 17/22 food. Stonehenge: 8/120

Turn 56
Quarry at 4/6 completion.
TP chop at 1/3 completion.
Size 1. 22/22 food. Stonehenge: 10/120

Turn 57
Grown to size 2. Work the now-completed quarry along with the wheat for 7h production.
TP chop at 2/3 completion.
Size 2. 3/24 food. Stonehenge: 24/120

Turn 58
Swap tiles to work Quarry & a plains forest (whichever one that we aren't chopping) for 8h production.
CD & SY move SE-NE to roaded forest and finish chopping it.
TP finishes his chop as well.
Stonehenge: 120/120. (80h from 2 chopped trees + 16h from this turn's production + 24h from stored production)

As a comparison, in pb8 the first wonders built were Oracle & The Great Lighthouse, both completed on t57. Stonehenge was built t60

We should road the wheat rather than the forest, since we'll want to hook it up anyway. And death to Commodore.

NH, you should just put "death to Commodore" in your signature so you don't have to type it every time.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

At least you aren't Georgia.

I've considered doing that but decided against it.

I was explaining Commodore to Sunrise at the draft on Sunday, and I said that Commodore is probably a top-5 RB player in duels. I'd put him 2nd tier behind the best civ players (e.g., Krill, Seven Spirits, etc.) in that setting, where the meta doesn't matter and negative-sum moves are optimal.

Turn 50 Power Rankings

Link to previous Power Rankings:
Things start to heat up now as we've had a couple of hot spots globally and at least one city changed hands (one that I've noticed, at least).  The score is beginning to be a better indicator of how teams are actually doing, although it is far from perfect.  As usual these rankings are very subjective -- just look at who is at the bottom.

Biggest Gain:  9 spots by Bigger & Lewwyn
Biggest Drop:  5 spots by 3 teams.

1. plako as Ragnar of Maya
Prev Rank: #1
Is anybody really surprised?

2.  Jowy & The Black Sword as Pacal of India
Prev Rank: #10
Yeah, this team appears to be for real, at least early on.  They've been climbing their way up the scoreboard pretty consistently of late, and sit at the #2 spot overall.  India will do that for you, though.  It also appears they landed the first Classical Era tech.

3. WilliamLP as Isabella of Inca
Prev Rank.  #2
What's this: Dropping the #2 team down to #3, even though he's now led the scoreboard since turn 46?  I'll tell you why:  because he was slipping down the scoreboard -- was 4th place at t45 -- and then a huge jump on t46 brought him to the top.  Since he's the only civ with a religion it's clear he owes his lead to land points.

4. Pindicator & Scooter as Darius of Vikings
Prev Rank: #3
Our heroes have actually kept pretty even with plako on the scoreboard, but dropping them a spot feels justified for a few reasons.  First, they have the worst possible neighbor in the game -- AGAIN! -- and he's already declared war on them twice in the last 25 turns.  Second, demos are below average all around.

5. Ichabod & Wetbandit as Shaka of Greece
Prev Rank: #4
Holding steady in the power rankings, but like Pindicator & Scooter they have fallen to other teams in the last half dozen turns.

6. Bigger, Lewwyn, & Qgqqqqq as Gandhi of China
Prev Rank: #15
The first civ with 3 cities, and with very strong early game demos.  But will Azza take on the role of Commodore in the south?

7.  Yuris as Mehmed of Ottoman
Prev Rank: #6
Nothing shocking from this team, but continuing solid development.  Which fits both Yuri and mackoti both.

8. Slowcheetah as Ramesses of Mongolia
Prev Rank: #7
I could see slowcheetah reprising his start from pb8, even if he isn't isolated.  That didn't happen by accident.

9. Azza as Joao of the Dutch
Prev Rank: #14
If Azza wasn't going to axe-rush Lewwyn then what was the point in rushing to hook up the copper like he did?

10. dtay as Alexander of Germany
Prev Rank: #5
dtay slips a bit here, but a good PHI bulb or academy would get him right back into the thick of things.

11. mostly_harmless as Qin Shi Huang of Sumeria
Prev Rank: #9
Completely unknown what mh is doing.  His scores have not been climbing as high as some other people here, but he's still solidly in the middle of the pack.

12. Serdoa as Mansa Musa of America
Prev Rank: #18
Serdoa has been climbing up the scoreboard in the last ten turns.  I expect him to be in the top half when we come back to this on turn 75.

13. retep as Sitting Bull of Khmer
Prev Rank: #8
Took a city of Bacchus', but it appears he razed it.  So a lot invested into early aggression, but not the pay-off of an additional city.  Him and Bacchus are dragging each other down.

14. Fintourist & Old Harry as Montezuma of Babylon
Prev Rank: #11
What's going on with these guys?

15. Commodore & Kurumi as Victoria of Portugal
Prev Rank: #17
After being the one of the first teams to a 2nd city they have not settled a 3rd.  And have been languishing on the bottom of the scoreboard while antagonizing their neighbors.

16. suttree as Huayna Capac of Spain
Prev Rank: #12
Seems like night and day between pb11 and here.

17.  Nakor & CFC Jester as Wang Kon of Rome
Prev Rank: #16
Their start is looking worse and worse.

18. Bacchus as Suryavarman of Carthage
Prev Rank: #13
Losing a city this early hurts a lot.  He can still come back, but he's going to need to catch some breaks.

19. Commodore's Meta Gaming Skills
Only knows how to hurt things, including his own chances at winning.
