[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Turn 54
  • Bay of Pigs gets Barracks!
  • Writing comes in!
  • I don't know if you already noted, but we got exactly that one freaking jungle growth that we talked about.. rant This just can't be true.. lol

Our scout progressed as you outlined in your last post. It revealed a bunch of new tiles, but nothing really interesting. No resources. No huts.

The positive about our demos is that our crop yield + mfg is now constanly above rival average (44>40). Our GNP sucks and will suck even harder, but some of our opponents struggle even more with it.. We'll see. I think one of our mid-term targets must be trying to meet as many civs as possible, because we will be trailing in tech and need to make use of known-tech bonuses..

When you play the next turn, don't forget the tile switches! crazyeye Cannae must reach 30/60 hammers so that it can whip granary on T56, max growth for bay of pigs and our capital has fish+corn+mine+forest IIRC.

My major worry is that we don't really have good spots for cities 6-8. The plains cow city that we settle on ~T69 is also pretty mediocre. Those corn+rice+grassland cows in the south are way better than any of our options, but they are just too far away and I think they belong to someone else.. Well, in this game we seem to get nothing for free so I probably should just get used to it. At least we are not getting rushed like apparently couple of other civs out there in the darkness.. crazyeye Rival best soldier points was higher at some point, right?

Turn 55

We finish Writing and start on Maths. Cannae will end turn with exactly 30 hammers in its granary and a chop goes into our next settler (ie everything is under control!)

I only moved the scout a tile south for safety, we could carry on south or head E-NE and circle around the jungle to see if we can find better choices for city 6&7. What do you think?

Any thoughts on this? I still like 7, 8 and 9, but we probably want to know more about the jungle to the south of 7. And perhaps 6 should be later?

Demos - Rival best was 75 000 last turn so someone lost an axe.

Here is an updated version of that dotmap, I've put green white dots on forest to help.

I think we've got a decent enough city 6 that can share cottages with Agincourt and Cannae, which then links down to 11 (could be 1S to have the corn first ring but that wastes a forest and can't share the sugar) and 12 (11 forests smile but not much food frown) quite nicely. The pigs are very much a stretch.

I'd like to get over to the river valley of 7 and 8 early because that allows us to settle 9 and get intercontinental trade routes. The trouble is there isn't a linking city, so perhaps we should have a look at the area around 10 with the MP warrior for city 4.

Of course the third priority for expansion is going for sailing and getting a galley over to 14. That *might* give us intercontinental trade, but I doubt it shakehead. Should we try to expand over there early to have a defensible situation or should we concentrate on the other two directions just in case someone else already has that land?

This is the background if you want a go...

Turn 56

Agincourt finishes the settler, BoP puts one more turn into a warrior before the worker next turn, Cannae whips the granary.

Moved the scout and it seems mostly_harmless (IND, PRO, Sumeria) is our southern neighbour - should we move onto the forest to make contact? One movement point left so I didn't end turn yet.

Demos - I think the top GNP is due to Jowy's Oracle, we're not great, but I don't think we're far behind the pack.

Small piece of advice. Putting green dots on a green background to differentiate it from a different type of green background is not that smart.

Fair point, I've changed them to try and make it look like you're talking nonsense tongue

This should work somehow. However, I'm considering flying to Milan for couple of days (17 to 21), but I fix this somehow. Hydra, would you have time to play couple of turns if we give you detailed micro plan?
