RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Gandhi of Korea (Broker33 & plako)

I think tech path should be ag -> bw first lots of trees

If we decide to go oracle med -> priest -> wheel -> pottery

Now if we have an early rusher next to us or start having barb problems we may need hunting -> archery in there but that is my thought right now.

I think the oracle GE bulb mids is a good gambit here with philo.

What I noticed in the first game is that people avoided early wonders for a long time thinking everyone would be going after them. Allowed me to oracle feudalism so a fast oracle should do the trick.

Good idea I think we are agreed here so if you want to go ahead and move I am fine with that. Be good to see a pic smile I dont get home for another 7 hours.

Sounds good. Barbs start to become problem on turn 40-50 on Monarch level and naturally wrong type of neighbour might force us to depart from original plan. Hopefully we've possibility to claim copper with our 1st 2 cities. If that doesn't work we might need Archery as you said.

Couple thoughts regarding the map. There always seems to be a twist in these things. Last game everyone had ivory and there was not gold, silver, gems to be seen.

Map will be ballanced so if we will have a strageic resource close or nobody will.

Need to scout the coast to see if that land mass accross the water is connected or not. Could be helpful if there are islands to settle for trade route bonuses.

Last map we were pretty far away from each other may be closer this time.

Anyway random thoughts that I felt I should throw out there.

I made couple of tests and it seems to me after all that moving the capital isn't worth it. Settling in place gives quite nice run for the Oracle at turn 58 (assuming we want MC out of it). With some tweaks maybe turn 56-57 could be possible. If we move capital and reach for MC the tech pace will be so much slower that we couldn't get it before T55-56. If we're happy to catch Monarchy then we could get it quite a bit faster.

I used tech path: Agriculture 9 -Fishing 15 - BW 30 -Meditation 38 - Priesthood 45 -Wheel 52 - Pottery 58 and build order: Worker 15 -WB 26 -Warrior 28 -Warrior 32 -Settler 39 -Worker 42 -WB for scouting 45 -Oracle 58

So if we move 1 east it would be turn 59. Do you think that is worth it for the extra hill and coast as opposed to a grassland and grassland we cannot improve?

Also the extra trees to chop.

It doesn't seem worth moving. It almost certainly delays Pottery 1 turn and also Oracle similarily. Our tech pace seems to be limiting factor. We get enough hammers from chops to finish Oracle. After turn 60 our 2nd city starts to be functional and probably more suitable to create workers and settlers. We could move our capital there later, if we want.

If settling in place is ok to you. I'll log in and do it. Let's hope for fish in the fogged tile smile.

Ok after much discussion and hand wringing we settle on settling in place and going for the oracle for metal casting. Here is the known world

Nice area and we seem to be in the wheat belt. Whales is nice also. Definatly want to get cities out west and north sooner than later.

As you can see we went worker first. Worker due in 15 Ag in 9 so we will have work for him to do. Improve the wheat and then move to the hills. BW is next

I did the above test with all 4 forest choped and got the oracle on turn 56 with Metal Casting. I mirrored our land and set difficulty to monarch. I even settled 2nd city forcing a drop in research to 90%

We may want to build Oracle in 2nd city or have 2nd production city up and ready to whip a forge quick to ensure we get the engineer instead of poluting the gpp. Depends on the land around us. But if we build the oracle in another city and have two forest prechopped in cap we should be able to chop them and whip the forge so the engineer can come from capital then build mids there.

Do you think BW is better than Fishing as our 2nd tech? If we go for fishing it is ready on turn 15 and unless we need warrior for some reason we could build work boat right after the initial worker while growing. Worker has enough work to do while waiting for BW that will come about turn 29. i.e. Farm - Move - Mine - Move - Mine.

56 sounds pretty good. On some games I've seen it gone before turn 50, but we've a fair shot, if we get it ready on turn 56. Our 2nd cities base production will still be pretty low around turn 56. It might be best to build Oracle on the capital and prechop/whip Forge on our 2nd city.

Naturally we've still plenty of time to switch our plans, if Oracle doesn't seem feasible, but it seems worth trying at this point.
