By the looks of the map, my gut is telling me to settle in place. If we move, we either waste a turn or lose a long term levee bonus of 5 hammers.

Agriculture first is a definite tech (and worker first). Workers can camp a forested fur, right? Because if they can't then mining should be the second tech so the worker can mine the riverside (looks like grassland) hill. The mines also allow the first workboat for the crabs to be completed faster. Even if the worker can camp the fur I would still research mining second.

So I think right now we're at this:

1. Settle in place
2. Worker first
3. Agriculture first
4. Scout goes to the 3 position (or 7). Our borders will pop a lot of the bottom part so I think now that going 7 is the better idea.

I'll see if I have the time to log in tonight or tomorrow. If not you might have to finish the turn.

This weekend, I'll probably do a world builder simulation of our start, just to see if mining or fishing second is best.

Camps can go on forests. Plantations cannot. The fur is currently 1/2/1, and will be 1/2/5 when camped.

Played the turn.

City (Rolan) build in place, research to Agriculture (9 turns), building worker (15 turns).

Found sheep east of Rolan. Scouted to 7 and found the river.

Next turn only scouting... suggestions on how to move?

I'll just move us to get the most of the north first. East is a bit more visible.

Found wheat as well! Fertile grounds all around.

I looked at the demographics.
There aren't that many scouts around.
10 teams, right? Average soldier count is 4422, max 8000 (war) , min 2000 (scout). Doing some math reveals 4 scouts, 6 warriors.

That could be a nice advantage.

GNP is between 17 and 13 (we have 15).

How do you suggest we move next turn? 9 and 6 (hill) to get a nice view?

How about moving 1 and 1? This way we explore what I think is the coastline, and we can then (afterwards) explore in a counterclockwise direction. The tiles we miss with the 1-1 move will be covered by the capital's border pop. I think.
