NE looks good to me. So far looks like we could place a nice commerce cite 1ne of the wheat. Would have 2 hills and no overlap.

I consider overlap alright. Unless there are some recources to grab I like 1E or 2E from the wheat currently most.

Overlap is usually quite beneficial pre-Biology when reaching pop sizes over 15 are not easy to reach. Cities closer to each other are more secure pre-Engineering (cities are 2 turns away from each other). Furthermore cities can share tiles depending on the things they're doing. e.g. in this case there will be ready made mine in the hill when our 2nd city is founded that it could utilise right away.

Main reason to settle further away is to grab land from others, but our 2nd city shouldn't be located to block land from others unless they're very close.

I have heard those arguements before and agree with them but seem to have an OCD issue that wants to make all my cities perfectly spaced for maximum size which they almost never reach smile We probably need overlap with specialist usage which also gives us more cities to whip or draft an army out of later shhh

I like 2 east better saves the hill for production. I dont like settling on grass hills no benifit other than the defense bonus which with enough cats dosent really matter smile Plains hills on the other hand the extra hammer is sometimes useful.

I agree that 2E from the Wheat will be way better long term. However having Wheat in 1st ring will speed up cities development considerably. Unless we manage to found religion hooking it up will be delayed at minimum 13 turns.

Warrior continues to NE...and finds grassland cow.

Warrior should probably go next E, then NE and NW. NE now would only reveal 1 useful new tile and maybe a mountain in the north.

Sounds alright. Soonish we'll had to start prioritizing forest/hill tiles to avoid bad odds against barb animals.
