logged in after 2 metra played, before the turned rolled.
unsolicited gifts from krill. He also gave me 2 ships of the line, very useful. I responded by offering him physics for free.
um, ok. still very far off.
so he retreated all the injured ships. gonna be hard for me to catch them with ironclads, but at least I can defend well. I need 2 metra to hurry up and finish combustion so we can start the industrial navy race!!

well crap. looks like cornflakes was a bit more aggressive vs krill than i was (well he did have infantry, most of my army was technologically inferior to Krills hehe). the fact most of them are injured means he just wiped out a Krill stack, I guess. krill will fold soon, I suppose.
the northern stack has about 8-10 uninjured cavalry, he may even be able to take that city next turn
well this is another fucking mistake I made, hehe.
I used 3 spies earlier at 34%, due to the counter espionage mission. 2 had a 50 discount, 1 had a 30% discount. well 2 turns later it wore off I could have gone through the log and figured out when he ran it and figured it out. due to spies getting caught, I only had 2, with no discount. it was 59% odds, same price as a 50% discount w/ counter espionage (about 5k EP points), so I had to take it anyway, or wait another 10 turns.\
first spy died, second one was successful. so I finally have assembly line. still 3900 EPs to 2metras 900 so not a big deal, but I wish I had the smarts to wait a couple of turns - those extra 2600 EPs or so would be useful down the road.
I had to revolt to representation to get my research back on track. I was planning to stay in theocracy, but now that I need to pump out factories everywhere I decided to spend 5 turns in OR.
damn, cornflakes beat me to the Fascism GG.
for curious lurkers
eh, I'll try, I guess. I need these 2 cities to really start conquering 2 metra :/. I have started to gather forces over there. I could probably DOW and take them from cornflakes (plus farmville) as they are separated by lake from the rest of his empire. But im not sure I could get peace on my terms, and he has a lot more infantry than I have (0 atm). plus I think I'd have to raze Bass anyway, Cornflakes has too much culture bleeding across the lake.
heres the other alternative: tanks. w/ representation back on, im 6 turns from electricity at 0% science. if I can save up some cash, then blitz through industrialism (counting on 2metra to finish combusion, so i can steal it for oil), I could potentially rolling out tanks in 12 or so turns.
Then I'll just need radio and flight for bombers. If I'm lucky, 2 metra will finish flight for me .
Cornflakes doesnt even have physics, so he'll be pretty far behind me on this tech path. and I don't think I'll trade electricity to anyone .
ok, so I've talked myself into being patient, for now.

so... lots of crazy stuff happenned this past turn.
First, there's Krill:
hmm, ok, I'll take it. the resources are every resource I have a duplicate of (like 10 total).
I wanted to raze this silly city, but I realized both of AT's original cities here (that I had razed a long time ago) could still be refounded at some point. its not a bad city in the meantime.
ok, fair enough.
sure, why not.
both have played already, and cornflakes is first in the turn order - so NCIS is falling
the A team - Krills last city, has about 20 units, mostly riflemen. I wish I could say Jowy would take it, but jowy has 1 rifle in the area 2 moves away, cornflakes has a full army. Maybe cornflakes will raze?
If krill lives long enough for our peace treaty to expire I'll try and have units in place to move in and raze the final city to deny cornflakes. not too optimistic though.
thats +12 draft unhappy, lol. honestly just removing the cultural pressure to final evolution makes it worthwhile
Lysander is a medic 3 rifleman! woohoo, now that will come in handy.
whats that you say? How did 2 metra lose 2 cities?
thats right, commodore jumped into the war on my side. I was a bit surprised, they have basically been war allies against cornflakes the whole game. very Machiavellian also, a pain in my ass.
I don't have vision on commodore, but you can see where the 2metra cities were. I think commodore razed the one that was close to Jowy and kept the other one??
you know whats really annoying? 2metra played one turn after commodore DOW and before the 2 cities fell. Bespin still has a full stack, even though his culture prevents me from attacking. he could leave it undefended and I wouldn't be able to take it! otoh, new sarai is about to fall, and its only defended by a chariot! grr! this sums up 2metra's game pretty well - its all king of the hill, dogpile the leader, even sometimes to the detrament of his game.
or maybe he was baiting commodore, I don't know.
looks like he did take a city back from commodore.. we'll see if he can hold it.
im really worried about 2metra falling apart, AT style. spite aside, it won't be good for me. commodore would be able to take much more from him than I could, and at any time cornflakes could realize how weak he is and join in as well. I might end up w/ only bespin and 1-2 other vulnerable cities .
he refused this, not suprisingly.
30 mins and a few beers later I sent a more reasonable offer:
he has 650 or so gpt at max tax, so I think this is more than fair. I hope he accepts - I want him defending commodore to the fullest.
2 metra. should be fairly accurate since I have city visitibility on every city he owns. lucky commodore isn't nearly as strong as me and cornflakes are, but I still worry about 2 metra collapsing.
so, everyone has railroad and infantry now.
I spent some time coming up with ideas on how to capitalize on this chaos (krill almost dead, 2metra possibly following him). I came up with several different ideas:
- assuming 2metra doesnt accept my peace offer, rushing into bespin and trying to race commodore for cities. unfortunately my navy isn't really ready for this, and too much could go wrong. It would rely on 2 metra defending us equally and cornflakes not getting involved - I can't count on either. (btw, I have a stack of calvry prepped in the east to start razing 2 metra cities if cornflakes does declare - to keep cornflakes from getting spoils hehe).
- offer 2 metra peace, get open borders, declare on commodore and fight alongside 2metra.
haha, don't laugh, this would guarantee the balance of power a bit longer, which would benefit me. but I like the trade routes im getting from commodore too much.
- peace w/ 2 metra, prepare for a turn, then swarm jowy. he really hasn't kept up the past 20 turns or so and his rail network is non-existent. it wouldnt be too difficult and commodore wouldnt be able to react while he is fighting 2metra. im not sure how cornflakes would react though
- peace w/ 2 metra, prepare a couple of turns, invade cornflakes.
this would be the craziest, I guess, and isn't that far fetched while most of his infantry is deep in krills land. but my army is still mostly older troops, and ill have a much better edge against him if im patient
Ultimately im pretty sure just "doing nothing" is the best option. I can finish off industrialism in 5 turns at 100% science, and electricity in 4 turns at 0% science.. so about 8-9 turns until I have industrialism. if im lucky, 2metra has finished combustion by then. if not, I could finish it in 4. then I can revolt to police state and pump out tanks while no one else is really close, and pick the target that will be most fun.
maybe I'll be able to get bombers too, im not sure, we'll see.

ok so 2metra accepted my peace deal, awarding me a measly 500 gold for the trouble he put me through. perhaps I could have gotten more, but thats ok.
he took a city back from commodore. I think commodore razed the other one, so thats no profit for commodore. I wonder if he's angry at me for backing out of the war as soon as he joined in?
a though occured to me just now.. did I bribe commodore into joining the war? I honestly don't remember, I may have. I remember trying to get him to attack cornflakes, and trying to get cornflakes to attack 2 metra - both of which were rebuked. I don't know if I offered a deal to commodore to attack 2metra, honestly. if so, a bit of a dick move by me, lol. I don't think I did, though.
yay, didn't need that 15 gold. lost 35 gold to a neg event they very next turn as well. not a big deal at this point though.
doesnt look like commodore is advancing any farther.
and.... Krill is eliminated! thanks for filling into a hopeless spot for us Krill!
im not sure if cornflakes surprised him or if Krill was just ready for it to be over - but he had a stack of a dozen rifles 2 NE of LA law, and probably could have held out a few more turns if he moved them into the city also 4 units still in dads army
trade routes couldnt hurt, I won't hold grudges
mostly for shits and giggles, I guess
let the negotiations begin. I'm not ready for him to have security bureaus yet. I'd give up divine right, of course, but I know he doesnt want that.
is this a fair response? hmm, not sure. he probably needs the happy in a couple of cities, or at least it would allow him to whip some more.
just noticied he now has a 2nd source of silver, so its more generous than i realized when I offered it
im done drafting until the golden age ends, cornflakes is going to put a little more distance between us. What a drop off after the 2 of us, though!
lol, what?
last picture didn't take :/ I renamed dad's army to "moon moon," which seems appropriate given how goofy the city location is. Next turn I'll found 2 cities in the area, where the former AT cities I razed a long time ago were .

well the Chaos isn't over yet
2metra held his ground for democracy, I end up accepting - anything I can do to prop him up will benefit me, I think. this is why:
caught this from civstats before I logged in.
I have 8 more turns of peace 2metra, Im a bit worried he's going to be overrun before it wears off:
as you can see, 2 metra is easily equipped now to hold off commodore. but cornflakes? not so much. im hoping he can limit the damage to a couple of more cities.
speaking of new cities, im not ceding control of former Krill homeland to cornflakes:
bad advice mallard doesnt fit, oh well
I built culture in both to pop borders in 1 turn - since cornflakes had already played, he didn't get a turn before they had expanded.
I also was a bit of a dick here:
I got another turn to do some more damage, too, but picture didn't take. im going to make it difficult for him to build culture buildings there, and over run the whole area w/ culture from moon moon and the two satellite cities.
NO!
so I am reconsidering invading Jowy in response to cornflakes invading 2 metra. the other option is to continue to wait for more advanced weaponry, the wild card there is how long it will take 2metra to finish combustion. im guessing 10-11 turns he had saved up a big chunk of cash, then blew it on upgrades right after we made peace, probably thinking he was going to capture some commodore cities.
also have a stack of 20ish cavalry in confession bear.
I can take alf the turn I declare, and his capital the next turn. he's got most of his forces, including all his cannons, arrayed west. I guess the logic is he can't really defend himself against me *or* cornflakes, he might as well defend against Commodore, who he can hold off. He didn't really react to me moving these stacks in place, other than making the first offer on physics in 15 turns or so.
I'm waiting for cornflakes to login, I want to see how he reacts to my pillaging the countryside aorund his 2 new cities before I start a war.
In other news, am I the first person on RB to ever fully research electricity at 0% science?
I shouldnt have to put any more econoy into eps, ever. im producing twice the eps of cornflakes, and yet I have full vision on ever city on the map - and "investigate city" on every city except cornflakes cities (that will come soon enough, I have it on about 20% of his cities now). im producing almost 800 eps with the slider bar at 0 .
commodore should have artillery in 1-2 turns, so I also have to decide if im willing to trade electricity to him for artillery. It should still be awhile until I have bombers. artillery at this point will have minimal use attacking, but will be useful on defense and to keep cornflakes scared of attacking me. hmm.
