This qualifies. And it certainly contributed to the loss. If you are incapable of playing good defense and penalized when you do, you lose. Ugh.

Actually, it's t99 now. But it's with marble too

We had a classic Pac12 moment in the OSU - Cal game, but it happened with the game well in hand so I couldn't really get upset about it, even if it was awful.

Scooter, I played the MoM plan part of the turn but I haven't touched the rest of the game because I'm either being paranoid or Commodore is going to try and take that island city this turn.
First, the MoM setup:
Whipped the capital, and borders will pop at Timbers next turn. So big overflow & marble for starting MoM next turn. I did a small change on the worker up north -- instead of roading the forest spice I started a plantation and will put 2 turns into it before chopping those trees up north.
Also, we have an axe in the south that I'm not sure should move to cover Timbers or if he should move back in case Nakor does something rash (like try to pillage our gems).
And then the paranoia...
12 hours in and Commodore hasn't played yet. And yes, he played after us last turn.
I think we should move our galley 1N and park him there. I already swapped to an archer, because it's the only thing we can put enough hammers in to whip next turn. Honestly, I expect Commodore is just packing 1 unit, maybe 2 axes -- he's just hoping to pick off some low lying fruit. So hopefully a pair of archers in the city will be enough to dissuade him. If the barb wasn't there we could chop out an axe.
Anyway, nothing done yet, but I bet he attacks

I finished the turn since I think we need to be cautious. I would also send 2 units north to defend the desert city up north - single unit defended cities are too tempting for Commodore. I don't mind defending our border cities against Nakor with 1 unit so much, at least in the short term, but not Commodore.

Took a peek after Commodore played; no war, the galley continued east.

Cool, yeah totally agree with your moves there.
Also, I kinda like that our thread on Saturday turns into the college football open thread. Just feels... appropriate.

Now that we have calendar, it's a little easier to get a grip on how far we are from circumnav:
I'm starting to feel pretty good about this. Pindicator, if one of the guys whose maps we don't have (Dhalphir, Bacchus, etc) suddenly get Currency, I think we immediately offer them 10g for their map.

We may have to offer more than 10g. I've declined map trade requests every turn.
Scooter played the first half of t97, I finished it up with the MoM stuff. Here's how it looks for next turn:
Our settlers are in blue. I think we slow move the desert one so it stays with the archer. We can also move the spear in Red Wings north next turn as I shuffled the warrior north to be able to cover RW. The eastern settler can also board the galley next turn, and will land at the Moai spot on the east island on t100.
The red box is where our hooked up marble would be if I had taken a screenshot that had it in screen. 6 workers hooked it up this turn, and we'll put 134h into MoM. (We queued up both Pyramids and a worker just in case.) Next turn 1 of those worker each will go to both forests, and the other 4 will move 3NW and build a cottage. From there we need to hook up spices and get some workers to help our new incense city.
In foreign news, Nakor has passed us in power. Iron still isn't hooked up yet though.

Offer spices for gold to Commodore or to someone else?
