Haha, oh damn, Buffalo? I don't remember if I posted it or not but I had written something in commodore's PB13 thread to the extent that buffalo could be one of his Canadian cities, except it wasn't nice enough.

And yeah, the south isn't all bad. Fact: it's 55 degrees this morning and I'm wondering if winter came early. But no worries, it's back to the mid eighties again today. Can you even go outside this time of year in buffalobostonwhatever?

Moving my thread over here, and yeah, it makes more sense for you to own the thread. I wasn't sure I'd remember saying I'd ded-lurk otherwise, given my "condition" on Saturday.



Here's what I know of our opponents so far:

retep - A spotty reporter in PB13, doesn't seem to be doing so well there, but I lack specific information. PB11 spoiler:

IMO, he's going to win PB11 based almost entirely (from my very limited perspective since I'm playing in the game) on GLH combined with a million islands that only he can access and the absence of anyone having any good way to get at him geographically.

So, in terms of skill, an unknown quantity in my book.

Dhalphir - Seems competent enough, reports well, posts are intelligent. Weakness will be lack of Civ MP experience, but he is a solid player and asks the right questions. Look for improvement the longer he plays. Hasoosh is a total unknown.

Gavagai is playing in PB12 and took the fight to Jester/Nakor in an ancient age war, and was successful against War Chariots. Not bad in my book. I haven't read his thread there, so again, I lack specific knowledge.

I'll look at the other players when I get a chance. Also, man, that setup thread is brutal. Let's set up a template as a community standard and agree to use that template going forward so we don't have so many unnecessary misunderstandings. Noble, I get where you're coming from with MillionQs, but I think he is more inpet than intentionally harmful. Probably best to just ignore him. Anyway, looks like plako made a third roll. I wish that whole thing hadn't been necessary but whatever, let's move on. You can always punish people in game.

Also, Gaspar, I'm a southerner by birthright and luck. Jealousy is very becoming in your case, I think.

I'm not going to comment on the setup thread since I'm at least tacitly responsible for its spiraling out of control. Its an excellent example of 1. how we can all be overcompetitive douchebags and 2. why you need a strong person running the setup. Anyway, I'm done commenting in there unless something really requires my input.

@Boldly - thanks for the tips on some of the unknowns. In my totally uninformed mind, retep is the biggest threat to our finishing second. The thing with these big games is that the identity of your neighbors has so much to do with how you do. I'm going in with no expectations other than good banter and an entertaining thread.

@everyone - obviously just playing around with the southerners. For the non-Americans, we're really still fighting the Civil War, we just do it with snark instead of bullets now.

Interestingly, when I walked into work today my first three customers wanted a book recommended by Rush Limbaugh, a book actually by Rush Limbaugh and a book by Ann Coulter. So clearly I have no room to talk about Boston.
