Anyone (else) think that William is making a mistake by letting Retep have those islands undisputed? By his own analysis, William's got nothing that can stand up to redcoats on land. He's also pointed out how he's got the supercanal that could get/keep naval dominance.

Haven't followed this game too closely, but at first glance Retep could take out 80% of William's naval production by razing/taking Cannelloni. Boldly & Xenu just need a helping hand right now. If William controlled the seas, and gifted a couple of galleons, I'm sure that Boldly & Xenu would put them to good use.

Ouch, just read WetBandit's post. William's making more than 1 mistake. I find that William truly believes in peace and believes in built up trust. His lack of troops around his capital and Lasagne are symptoms of this.

He doesn't actively look for weaknesses in his opponents and consequently, doesn't realize the extent to which others are actively looking for his own weaknesses.

I'd do it if I were WetBandit. Partly because I'd bet against William going overly vindictative.

I'd gift frigates and galleons to Boldy if I was William, but then I've read their thread. In isolation it might not be so obvious.

Wetbandit's post about burning William's capital makes me think William needs to take paranoia 101 as well as international intrigue 101.

Edit: Crosspost - I don't think I'd do it if I were Wetbandit, I'd hope retep and William come to blows and keep looking for opportunities. I was wondering about unloading a bunch of units next to the capital and Moai city to show its possible and that retep could take advantage - paint yourself as the reliable friend who doesn't take advantage...

an intereating play Harry, william hasn't been around long enough to predict his reaction to that...

In retep's position I would rush the Statue of Liberty, largely for denial because of how strong it would be to anyone on the mainland.

If he hasn't considered that a wonder might fall then he's not paying any attention. That's not a leading question when it's something that obvious, its clearly something he is considering as part of his evaluation.

I retracted my post because this is a greens game. Whether he is paying attention or not is irrelevant, what's relevant is that you brought up something that he should be considering that he hasn't mentioned.

I disagree. For an extreme example, if WilliamLP states that he intends to invade Kuro, it isn't spoilerish to ask how many units will be in the capital - it is something he will have obviously have considered, and is the obvious target of any such attack, even though he didn't mention it. The same case applies here, he has not mentioned opponents, but that doesn't mean he hasn't considered them. Therefore, the issue lies not in assuming that a player has considered something, as there are cases where that is appropriate and obvious, but whether the assumption is valid. In this case, I felt that it was sufficiently obvious thing for him to have considered.
What would be inappropriate would be, in the hypothetically extreme example, to ask whether Kuro had rifling yet, as it would be leading WilliamLP to consider something he hadn't nessecarily. What would have been inappropriate for me to say would be something along the lines of how close are his opponents to Democracy, or how big a benefit would denying SoL to his opponents be.

Any bets on who Retep going to attack? Wetbandit looks pretty much out of the running now so hitting WLP could get a concession going sooner.

Has anyone posted a recent pic of the map?

In the absence of the map, my first guess is that he'd do a combo hit on Kuro's old lands + distracting naval attack on some of his core cities. Relieve WLP of some of his land advantage. I'm quite curious how WLP will respond to that. I suspect that he'll stay within his borders which won't really work once steel hulls come into play.
