Premise detected: game is boring.
Goal detected: reduce boredom.
Conclusion: expedite game end.

Thanks Darrell, that's good advice, but we won't be taking it this time.
Remember, 7 has already said he won't be optimizing this game.

The goal was to screw ourselves as much as possible while still leaving ourselves a lot of interesting stuff to do. AGG is there because it's an awful trait. It's not PRO because AGG has an actual effect on the game, and even if it's a small and lame effect, it's not one I'm used to so it will add a bit of interest. SPI is there because it is the most interesting trait, and its strength has to be coaxed out of it. Also like I said at the beginning:
Quote:Plan is to pick the most viscerally frightening leader and confuse/intimidate our opponents to victory!
Yes, Monty has some appeal outside of his traits as well.
Zulu is because we didn't want to have a boring start. If you start with bad techs, it's a handicap, sure, but also it means you can't DO anything for way too long. So despite me having dreams of playing Monty of Aztecs, Krill convinced me it's better to take some decent starting techs and let AGG do the work of dragging us to the bottom of the river. In terms of starting techs, agriculture/wheel is ideal for this setup, since we need to hook a grain and cottage those FPs, and they are the strongest starting techs by default anyway. I think Egypt and Sumeria would have been better civ choices for our start. But Zulu's techs are acceptable too, and Zulu makes our AGG trait a bit more interesting, so that seemed cool.

Let me also be clear: there's no fun for me in civ without trying to play it well, or at least stylishly. Intentionally bad choices will be confined to the snake pick and game signup. Any bad plays from this point on will either be honest mistakes or, more likely, totally Krill's fault.

Krill thought this game was RBMod, hence SPI/AGG. What a noob...

Ok, that makes sense. I will stop yelling at you for picking badly now. It was an interesting role-reversal.

It's already my fault we picked Zulu, so no reason that I can't keep the streak up

So given the 'interesting stuff' constraint I don't disagree with what you said, but I'll be surprised if the screwing over part of your choice has any real impact on your success in game.

Krill was suggesting Ramessesesses here, under the theory that IND is pretty weak but would allow SPI to reach its full potential. I disagree - I think IND is way better than AGG in general, and is improved here with marble and stone unavailable. I'm not willing to give up AGG. In addition, I was thinking specifically that I did not want to be IND, because I'm not interested in playing a game where I win with a bunch of wonders.

Well, yeah, it goes without saying that it's better than AGG. Just that it is weaker than it perhaps could be ie if there were no other IND leaders in the game. And there is the lost synergy with Impi and Ikhandas to consider. Personally, I think Monty is more fun, but it's better to point out an alternative when it's available and consider it than to just ignore all other possibilities and tunnel vision.
