Let there be updates! How fares the Western Capital?

Long awaited update!

So where to start. In general, its been a nice few turns of golden age. I just finished CS this turn, will revolt next turn when the 5t timer from the Caste/OR/HR switch occurred. I just birthed a Great Artist from Riole, 90% chance for a scientist and I got an artist lol. It doesn't really matter cause I'm going to burn it for a Golden Age anyway, but lol.

Looking at the Bulb list for GA, right now it grabs Drama, but if I researched Drama it could bulb Music and get another replacement Great Artist. Somewhat interesting, but I just have so little use for any of the other benefits of drama/music right now that I don't think its worth it. Globe isn't really needed until Drafting, and nothing else much interests me.

The other news, which I'm sure you'll are aware of is that West City fell to SlowC. Bleh. He kept it which means I can probably take it back in the long haul, ideally whenever Ichabod decides to finish SlowC off. Milos will probably hold, its got 4 highly fortified defenders, 2 more on the way, on a hill, borders expanded, etc. See below:

That's actually a turn old, since then, Ichabod's being weird and declared with a Galley?

Not sure what he's doing. Going through borders? but to what? He's already met OH, no way he takes Milos, I'm really just confused.

So current plans, I'm going to turn out a Great Merchant in 4t (following shot is 1t old) right when my golden age ends to burn for another:

I'll have a scientist 1-2t after that:

And then just churn out Scientist points from Riole to set up the bulbing spree for liberalism.

In the central area, churning out another settler from EC and growing the capital as much as I can

You can see Scooter has a galley right by my capital, which is guarded by a warrior... not scared though because he double moved me to get there (indicative that this war is entirely fake) and he;s been avoiding seafood spots//passed by an empty north city. Man those 4 move galleys are scary though.

Out east just building things up, parthenon is either going to land me lots of gold or yet even mroe GPP points (shot a turn old, in fact all these shots except the ichabod galley one are a turn old)

Off all things I forgot a demo shot, I'm 1st in MFG by about 15, and 1st in GNP by about 100 (~400 to ~300). I'm around 8th in food though, which is pretty bad, but partly its cause I'm starving 2 cities down for GPP, see:

But look at the pretty GNP and MFG spikes!

Bureacracy exists to meet the needs of the expanding bureacracy...

Amestris officially has paperwork!

And a really high GNP to go with it:

Not sure what Slow is doing over here, he can't take Milos... he has 4 horse archers and an ax v 2 axes and 2 spears, all full fortified, on a hill, with 20% culture defense, and 2 of which are triple promo. He basically auto loses every first combat then has 1 unit to play mop-up v 4...?

He still won't accept peace, maybe just to mess with me, but as long as we're at war I'm going to keep blockading his island city to deny trade routes and the seafood. Even if he wants to take Milos he needs buildup time anyway.

3t to a great merchant and a second golden age:

Shot of the core:

Finally have 1 of the top 5 cities!

Mackoti is doing ridiculous... look at this capital (he moved it):

And he's murdering mostly_harmless

All the mroe reasons to be friends with OH, OH could probably use the peaceful border as much as I do, and it creates a counterweight to Mackoti.

Update covering 2 turns (not seperated out since it only matters in once instance)

Looks like the attack is coming, 2 more horse archers have arrived in WC. My reinforcements won't make it quite in time for the first attack turn, but Slow has basically no chance of taking it on that turn anyway.

The math isn't exactly simple, but i'm pretty sure he's got really low odds of victory. I basically auto-win the first 4 fights (~99% probs of victory), and based on the combat calculator the spears and the soon-to-be-guerrilla ax also get odds (~70) on their second fight. If everything went strictly according to what's probable individually then slow doesn't have enough units to get even a single fight where he has the odds. Now of course probability doesn't actually work like that and I expect him to win a fight or so, but not take the city. But in the long term COME ON ICHABOD KILL HIM ALREADY

Shot of the core

Ugh, I wish I had gotten this penisula even more now, tile yields show there's an Iron on that hill...

Battle of truth approaches:

I think I fell into the trap of making SlowC declare irrational emnity towards me. I don't think this focus on the island is the most efficient use of resources for him in terms of victory % or civilization strength, its a lot of hammers for 1 mediocre city on a far away island. But given he has no chance to win the game, I suspect I made the mistake of becoming his proximate goal. Can't blame him, but ugh.

This is going to be close. But then... the Calvary arrived?

GO ICHABOD. I mean he won't help me directly, but maybe Slow will retreat his horsies? I offered peace to allow him to do so, we'll see if he cares more about trying to take Milos or defending v Ichabod.

I've slightly modified Operation Golden Era. I'm going to have a 3-4t gap between the golden ages to allow me to get philosophy mostly out of the way so I can go pacificism for 5-6 turns during the golden age for even more GPP. That should allow me to end the golden age with 2.5 great scientists, Philosophy, and paper, and some other things (part of education? Machinery?).

More infra in the meantime, though I'm going to start building an army soon (once that forge is built).

Demos - down a bit (duh)
