If you know what I mean.

I say stick with the cultural victory, you can steal Krill's gold that way.
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)

I did take back the score lead now, first past a thousand. :D I expect Krill to take it back soon though. Or maybe not, since I'm 1-turning techs now by building wealth everywhere. I don't really know what the tech situation is since I haven't done C&D. The most advanced civic out there is Caste system, and Krill has landed the Music artist and also has Calendar (since forever), HBR and Iron Working. I was very late to Currency, lots of people beat me to it, by wide margins too. My GNP is double the next one right now, but that's a semitemporary boost and I have a lot of catching up to do I suspect. My current techs (I have everything to the left): Demos: I think I'll grab Civil Service now, it's a bit stupid not to with my vertical empire even though my capital is pretty subpar. Golden Age due in 4 turns, so I can adopt Hinduism, Caste and Bureaucracy then. Then Guilds next, I expect. Thoth has won the land grab and may be a long term contender. Serdoa and Commodore may be gearing up for round two, Commodore did another 6 whips 2 turns after the last round.
I have to run.
Bombing Paya city wouldn't gain more than couple of tiles there. However it might give a possibility to surprise attack i.e. bomb and 1-turn your border city. Not sure, if the bomb really works that way, but something for you to consider.
I did notice Thoth's sharply rising crop yield before you commented on the land grab.
Sounds like you may be headed for a tech lead in the medium term, but with the large known tech discounts later, it might be wise to try to capitalize on that as soon as possible. I.e. annex some more land with knights, or something. Vertical growth won't do you much good if everybody catches up to you in the industrial age anyway. (Total armchair quarterbacking, of course.)
If you know what I mean.
Right, known tech discounts. Really I have no idea how to play this mod from the medieval age and out, having never played with it before.
I have to run.
Turn 123 (?)
Careful analysis reveals that I'll get Civil Service in 4 turns and can't speed it up further. ![]()
I have to run.
Turn 127
Started a 12-turn golden age, I'm now in hinduism, representation, bureaucracy, caste system, organized religion. Will produce two GPs during the GA without any special effort. My GNP went down as I started the GA, since I switched from wealth builds to infrastructure and military. Krill has a SoZ + HE city that seems to be 1-turning units. Commodore attacked Serdoa. No cities have changed hands after two turns of warring, and Serdoa spawned a great general while Commodore was playing.
I have to run.
